Just my Luck? (Sunset Overdrive Bundle, high pitched noise)

Kinda has me nervous about not picking mine up at best buy...

 

I'm a platinum member at best buy so I get a whole month to return stuff. I'm going to wait it out for a bit and see if they release another patch. If not, then I'm going to return it, and wait a while before I buy another one.

 

Same with Asda, I get a 12 Month warranty with faulty consoles but man, this is ridiculous. I just want an Xbox One that I can't hear 4-5 feet away. It's like a high pitched ringing noise, it gets super annoying in a short period of time.

 

I'm picking mine up after work so I'll let you know if I have the same issues.

 

It's not just new ones that the noise is happening too. My Xbox is 2 months old and use to be so quiet but now is loud and making the noise I've being hearing one the net.

Mine just started one day playing destiny and this was after the October update.

Now it won't go aways. I sent mine off to support but got them to send it back as I was told I would get a new one in replace but ended up being told once they had it that a repair was booked. Anyways i should be getting it back tomorrow (fingers crossed)

I can have an advance exchange once I get it but I've heard and read bad things about it, getting refurb xboxs sent to you or lost xboxs and being charged for them.

Has anyone had a good advanced exchange?? Would love to know.

you need to plug a kinect in to stop the coil whining.

 

I don't even know if this is Coil whine, plus, I don't really have a spare £50 for a Kinect, sadly.

 

I just bought my Sunset Overdrive bundle today, and straight out of the box it starts making a noise that sounds like a fan is scraping on something as it spins. The sound is really loud as I can hear it from across my living room perfectly. I thought by
buying the latest version of the Xbox One I could bypass some of the issues I've been reading about, but I guess not. It is extremely unacceptable that these problems persist almost a year after the console launch. Now I have to drive to GameStop, which is
an hour from my house, and exchange the console in the hopes that the new console won't have the same issue, or send it out to MS to be repaired and wait who knows how long. This is ridiculous, and it leaves me with a really bad first impression of the Xbox
One and Microsoft as a whole.

 

I decided to return my sunset overdrive bundle. It wasn't worth keeping if it had problems right off the bat. I got a new assassins creed unity kinect bundle instead. It's quiet and I now have a kinect! I wouldn't bother buying kinectless xboxes at the moment.

 

CP SEVERENCE, Mine also sounds like it's scraping something but, when you are 3-4 feet away, it sounds like a high pitched scraping noise. It's really starting to annoy me. People saying using a Kinect could correct the problem but, it shouldn't be needed.

Have you used your Overdrive game code? Apparently doing so could result in you not getting a refund/exchange. I'll have to head to Asda and get a refund soon as they have no others in stock which is just a pain.

 

I actually did redeem the game. Best buy didn't even care to ask. I feel bad keeping the game but at the same time they sold me a faulty console.

 

So far I'm not having any issues with my overdrive white console. Only noise I heard was from the powerbrick but nothing so far. I'll keep checking and testing.

 

Took my faulty Sunset bundle to the MS store for an exchange. Luckily they had one bundle left. The new one does not make the cricket-like noise anymore and is very quiet.

 

Anyone else buy the xbox one assassins creed unity bundle with kinect and not have this problem?

 

Hallo Dear Friend, In Russian Federation every fifth console has such noises !

The problem is that power is supplied to the console via a microcontroller, in your case , the controller is inactive ( idle ) , after the October update , reboot the system and complete the console (turn off the console and unplug the power cord ), this
controller is stitched and the sound should disappear .

If you hear the crackle and squeak , then you have a problem with the hard drive , try to clean the console cache ( hold down the power button on the console for a few seconds and wait until it turns off ) !

But the best thing with this issue, contact technical support for the company and replace the console !
