Just me or is next-gen falling a bit flat?

What I'm trying to say is savor all that was put into these games.

For instance, if I had an amazing dinner sitting in front of me and I decided to throw it all into a big blender and turn it into a drink, then drink it down really fast I would 1. be a bit grossed out because it probably would taste like crap and 2. I would
feel like I didn't really enjoy it.

I have a friend that played Dragon Age Inquisition along with me and he was done after 20 hours. He doesn't like to explore, he hates caves, side quests are boring to him and he refuses to kill a dragon because he says he isn't remotely interested. I was
like "Uhmm, why did you even buy it?" I'm not sure the point I'm trying to make there, but I just thought I would throw that in.

Well the point is to buy a game you KNOW you are going to like! It isn't that hard! Everyone seemed to be excited about every game coming out without even knowing anything about it. People were stumbling all over themselves trying to get a copy of Thief
when that came out. Did I race to get it? No. I KNEW I wasn't going to like it based on the name alone, but then I watched some gameplay and I felt tired and cranky just watching some idiot play it.

Yeah, I don't get it. To me, it's the highlight of the game! Now with the high dragons, I'm having a great time with it.

I put 70 hrs in Dragon Age inquistion and by the time I was done I had to push myself to finish. Most of the content felt like it came right out of a MMO and was incredibly repetitive. The characters and main story content was great but its clear Bioware
doesn't know how to replicate Bethesda's success--which is a really a problem right now with the industry. Bioshock Infinite squandered the gameplay that made the first game any good and fell more in-line modern day FPS conventions seen in COD. RPG's like
Amalur and Inqusition fail to understand why Bethesda's open-world rpgs are so good and what make them tick.

 

As much as I loved Skyrim, all the "main characters" were no more dynamic than cardboard cutouts. Repetitive comments, 2-3 voice actors doing the voices for hundreds of characters. It was terribly painful at times. I heard the story about mathieu bellamont
from my spectral assassin only about 34,000 times during my travels. I wanted to say "Hey, shaddap!" but there was no option to do that.

 

Had the X1 since day 1 and haven't been disappointed yet. I guess it helps that I've been gaming for a looong time (early 80's) and I'm pretty used to these lulls at the start of a new gen. Year 2 is when things generally starting picking up and we're hitting
that point around now.

Bring on The Witcher next week!!

 

right im still waiting for good games nothing good coming in e3 ether don't like open world games or coop or multi just give me really hard campaign adjustable difficulty leaderboards and unlockable ingame items.most of them are so repeditive aspecaly open
world and multi.more walk through levels. please.

 

I think it's finally starting to hit it's stride. Sure there are some devs that will try to get a quick buck and make a remaster and there are those that will make complete rubbish because it's easier to now. Games like Viking, Loco Cycle and the game with
the spinning car have no need to be released but they are. The 8 bit fad is hopefully dying down.

There is a lot more junk to sift through for sure, but like I said I think it finally starting to hit it's stride.

 

In this current generation there is a little something for everyone. If you are still sorely disappointed it could nean you are ready to move on from gaming.

 

^^ I actually agree with that. Also if people are underwhelmed it's possible they've expected too much this gen?

Fallout 4 is coming out soon and for the 1rst time in my 8 1/2 months of owning my Xbox One does the console feel like it is worth owning

I will be playing nothing but Destiny and Fallout 4 from September 2015 to September 2016 LOL
