Just me or is next-gen falling a bit flat?

I have tried it. Do I like it? Yes, especially the UI. Will I go out and buy it in it's current configuration? No. Why? Main: Dedicated cores.

When you free up otherwise dedicated cores (Kinect/UI) for devs, who still can't hit the mark. Then thats tells me that somethings not right somewhere.

Dead rising 3 Graphical dissapointment?

What just annoys me deeply is the pop ins everywhere. Takes sometimes a bit too load in textures and sometimes it just spawns stuff in my face. Is just weak for a next gen game.. :/

 

The more Popular better value system?

How is the XB1 "MORE " next gen . It has a bit better specs than the 360 , and the kinnect has better sesors and camera , .Cable box pass through ? , ...not new. .. They are either both next gen , or both just upgrades ... Imo.

 

I agree Genchy. I have a few RPG's. I have the King of racers in Forza (Horizon 2 is fantastic). I have a tactical shooter coming in Rainbow Six Siege, now all I need in a tactical Stealth game. That is right. MGS 5 is coming in September. Hitman Agent
47 is going to be announced soon. And then I just need Sam Fisher to be announced

 

Ya know Electro that is what is weird. Personally, I think it is laziness. Why is it Turn 10 can do it? Why is it Black Tusk isn't having issues? Why is it 343i isn't struggling? Or Kojima Productions? Digital Foundry ran the tests and Assassin's Creed
Unity ran better on Xbox One. So Ubisoft didn't have issues (aside from the bugs). Yet CD Projekt Red has become inept all of a sudden?

Your post shows why there is such a big disconnect between people like me and people like you.

You're apparently putting MOBA's a niche genre yet DOTA has had 800,000 people playing at one time today and that'll be over a million tonight. Throw in League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm and you have a genre that has a larger player base than any
game or genre on the console. Those are just the three big hitters in the genre.

I'd be willing to bet that Civ 5 has more people playing it on a daily basis than any console game yet we don't have a TBS game. Is that another niche genre?

I firmly believe that the people that are content with the current console offerings are so because they don't know what else is out there.

 

Hey Randver! I want a turn based strategy game! Halo Wars 2 would suffice for now. But bring me Civ 5

Over the months we (Really You guys) have seen rushed to market titles and the like needing day one patches etc. And I just don't think it's entirely due to cores, and/or software issues - for the devs have been given the development tools in order to do
a quality job.

 

@Randver Oh I know about those game and have zero interest in them. That's why I have a console because the type of games I want to play are accessible with little fuss. Which is why I'm happy with this gen Console of choice, it delivers what I want and
I see games in the future I'm excited for. What I don't get is your continued need to champion these titles being on consoles and are detrimental towards consoles because of their absence. They are available and popular on PC and good for them why not
leave it at that as you have all platforms to choose from.

 

If I had to put into words what disappoints me about the new-gen games, I would say it's that the parceling of content into DLCs and season passes seems to be reaching critical mass. It feels very much like we have entered an era where consoles have subscriptions
which are veiled as "extra content".

It's not that I think this is inherently a bad thing; only that I now tend not to generate interest in many games at launch. I find myself waiting until we can see what all the content is, and more importantly, how the game's release unfolds. I bought
into Destiny's hype lock, stock and barrel, and it was the biggest mistake of my life in 35 years of gaming. It wasn't a horrible game, just one that had been falsely marketed. I tend to err on the side of caution now, and this deflates most of my enthusiasm
for upcoming releases. I simply assume I'll be disappointed and hope for a surprise.

 

Speak out Basher. . . Speak out about that Destiny hooplah! Ugh that game... undisputed champion of hype that failed to deliver the goods.

Outside of that. This Gen has out paced, in sales and games.

To Randver's point I do agree we need more TBS games.

That made no sense.

If a gaming genre is popular on one platform there is no reason it wouldn't be popular on another. Using your logic you'd have virtually nothing to play but platformers on the console because just about every other genre started on the PC first.

I'd love to see Civ 5 too but someone, somewhere last gen decided that we were either to stupid or lacked the attention span to play Civ 4 and gave us the dumbed down Civ Revolutions who's sequel ended up as a mobile game. That's the stuff that needs stop,
there is no reason a TBS needs to be dumbed down to work with a controller.

 

Randver I know where genres started I've been playing games since arcades in the 70s.

And to be honest you nailed it with your "people like me and people like you" comment.
