    Kinect 2 availability

    Xbox 360's Kinect = Kinect v1.

    Xbox 1's Kinect = Kinect v2.

Don't believe BestBuy employees who probably only earn minimum wage. THEY are NOT Microsoft. Microsoft has discontinued manufacturing Xbox 360 consoles. They wouldn't discontinue manufacturing Xbox 1 Kinects, yet! There is officially NO Xbox 1 version 2
Kinect. Read the start of my post. It provides a simple answer. People just add random stuff to the title of what they're selling and it can be easy for customers to get mislead by the title.

  7. The problem with Kinect was that it required a room to be designed around it, furniture placed to let it work.

Consoles work because they fit under your TV and let you game, they don't require anything special. Kinect needed you to live around it instead of fitting into your lifestyle.

It is the same battle that VR is going to face in the move to try and access the mainstream gaming audience.

Apparently Microsoft is still officially selling it:

I never had Kinect for Xbox 360. They forced it when Xbox One launched. Only a few games support it. I have Zoo Tycoon and Kinect Sports Rivals. I love the jet boat racing in Kinect Sports Rivals, beats old school using a controller you get to jump and express
fun body languages while playing it. And you can use it for console chat and to sign in securely on your console without having to enter in a pin or password. It also takes QR Codes but that hasn't been widely adopted on Xbox yet. But then again the link the
OP provided is not an official Microsoft website thus not an official source. That is why Microsoft (the official link I provide it even has https) is still selling it (until they run out of stock). It's like Project Spark too. It was a total fail and I think
it get pulled down from the Xbox Store.

If...and this is a BIG IF....VR/AR become something more than a niche, then look for the tech in kinect to return for motion tracking.

I still use my Kinect, but only for taking screenshots and recording and sometimes getting to the home screen quicker.
