Just got XBOX ONE...First Impressions...

The Console: HALO Edition

Was frustrated at first that I couldn't just jump right in and start playing.

Had to type in router and several other codes...Had to wait for a long time for 480mb update to install...Had to wait for a long time for HALO updates to install.

After 3 hours of jumping through hoops...Got everything working and was impressed with the graphics.

The Store...

I'd like to see categories...like FREE games.

Also...when I scroll through and pick a game...then watch a video...when I go back to the scroll list...they set me way back to the beginning...and I'm forced to rescroll all the way through to get where I left off

I prefer actual company made videos of games...instead of short podcasts...or that video channel that forces you to watch commercials before seeing game clips.

Just bought my Xbox One today and got it set up. Literally can't play ANYTHING. Back onto the extremely stable PS4 until this is fixed. Great first impression Microsoft

I'm surprised thats all you have to complain about...

Find yourself lucky you didn't buy the console day one, the list of problems was arms length.

 

Last I checked there is a free games category.

OP, the B button may not work like you expect it to while using the Xbox Live UI - it doesn't take you back 1 step or menu. It takes you back to the last thing that you were doing. So, for example, if you go directly from the home screen to a specific game's
store page, then when you press the B button, it'll take you back to the home screen and not back to the previous menu in the store.

If you haven't already done so, you can find several tutorials on how to use the UI quickly and effectively through the settings of your console or you can watch similar videos here on xbox.com through the support page - I highly recommend that you watch
them.

If you need HELP, you can always find it by pressing the menu button on your controller while on the Xbox One UI and selecting HELP - it really can be useful, so don't ignore it if you think you might need it.

 

I almost fainted (well, not really but I did go ?!?!) when I heard there would be a Day 1 Update for Halo MCC. It's been the biggest single Update I've ever downloaded for a game. I agree they still have some improving with that UI which just screams "I'm
Windows 8". I find it's not really kid friendly compared to Xbox 360's UI which even little kids can use without assistance. Your first impressions list is very small. Had you got the console around Launch and read through the dozens of pages in this forum
section, yes Xbox 1 has had a lot of feedback about it. It got so bad that Microsoft had to do at least two policy reversals for Xbox 1. But the console has definitely improved now compared to what it was like at launch. I too don't like Youtube ads, especially
the ones that are like over 35 seconds and you can't Skip 'em. Even I was impressed with the remastered graphics in Halo MCC's Halo 2 campaign. If today was 22/11/2013, my reply would take up 2 whole forum pages, Xbox 1 is missing this... Xbox 1 is missing

@BIRD the reason the day one update was so large was because it included the online multiplayer for MCC the game was so big that a single blu ray disc couldnt even hold it

 

If you are installing a game from disc then appear offline and it will install faster also to get the free games you need to have a gold account

You should also take a look at EA Access it gives you access to roughly 8 games and its only £20 for a year

 

What's the maximum size a Blu-ray disc can hold? They couldn't fit an extra 15GB onto a BLU-RAY disc (which can hold much more data than DVDs). I thought it was because they rushed the game that's why multiplayer was broken even 2 weeks after launch ask
others on here too, and certain achievements weren't unlocking as well. It's why even 3 weeks after launch me and most of my friends (who have an Xbox 1) were only playing the campaign. The game is awesome don't get me wrong, but it did get off to a kind of
a bumpy start.

 

No bird the mulitplayer patch was about 40GB the game was about the same

 

I thought the update was about 15GB and the 4 Halo games cam up to about 40GB...............could be wrong though.

but either way, as has been mentioned the day one "update" was actually all of the multiplayer parts of the games. What was on the disc was purely the single player, could they have spanned it too two discs? probably.

 

I knew nothing about a 40GB Update. My console may have automatically downloaded it when my console was on standby mode. Yes the game has had a few updates for it, but the Dashboard never told me about a 40GB UPDATE. You UK people have a habit of calling
me Bird. I was friends with this UK girl and she called me that. I don't mind it though.

 

The day 1 update for halo was 15.9GB and there was around 40GB on the disc which can only hold a maximum of 50GB, The spartan ops add on in december was around 5GB

 

The OP is a silver member, he wouldn't be able to download the free games anyway.
