  1. Just getting things ready, game will start soon

    Good afternoon,

I recently purchased a second Xbox One so that my son and I could play games at the same time. However, this additional xbox is giving me the error "Just getting things ready, game will start soon."

It just stays on that screen and does nothing.

I have done a hard reset, and it does the same thing.

I have read that it is possible that I will have to do a factory reset and reload everything all over again.

Is there any other choice that I have, and what are you guys doing about trying to keep this from happening.

I have been a long time Xbox user, but I am definitely not happy about this situation.

Please, tell me what I can do.

    :)

Just Getting Your App Ready. Your game/app will start soon!

Sorry to hear it. What you should try is power cycling the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down then unplug it and let it sit for 5 minutes to see if that helps.

If it does not then try deleting your profile, power cycling the console and redownloading the profile again.

  3. Just Getting Your App Ready. Your game/app will start soon!

    Hey all,

Just recently all of my games and apps have started giving me the above message. It was working a few days ago but a couple of days ago it stopped working. This is for games in both my internal and external HDD. I have already tried restarting my modem/router,
hard restarting my Xbox by both holding the power button for ~10 secs as well as just unplugging the brick. I uninstalled Netflix and reinstalled it in one sitting and it worked until I restarted the Xbox again.

If anyone has had a similar problem and has a solution other than the ones I have mentioned above please let me know

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey AceWarrior1313! The
    factory reset
is the next logical step in troubleshooting but if you purchased the console recently you may want to consider taking it back to the retailer and exchanging it just to make sure. Either way, post back and let me know how it goes!

Started getting the "just getting your game ready" thing for all my digital games? Please help!

Hey RiversEdge11. I appreciated you posting this as this was the first place online I could find someone who has had the exact same issue, and did so recently as well. I thought I would post a reply here as I was investigating this same issue nonstop for
at least 48hrs. I have great Internet where I live, two Xbox One consoles (wired LAN only) that are played concurrently for two hours or so a day for the last 4+ years, all games are digital.... everything worked OK for this entire time.

TL;DR - Factory Reset by keeping games and apps fixed this for me immediately.

Some context; my issues started when I was playing via streaming on a Windows 10 machine when Mass Effect: Andromeda failed to launch after switching from another game, giving me the error of "Something went wrong." I know that most times cancelling this
error message, launching another game that I know works, then retrying the same game gets it to work. This didn't work for me this time in which previous experience tells me a simple restart from the Settings Menu generally fixes this at all times. After waiting
for about 5 minutes for the restart to complete and settle, I tried to reconnect my controller, and confirmed all good by the solid white glowing Xbox logo but I was unable to reconnect to my Xbox One console and it was no longer visible to my Windows 10 machine
via the Xbox App. Needless to say, I fired up another two Windows 10 machines that I had nearby which I tested the latest with and confirmed still no visibility of this console (the 2nd console was visible). After lots of research I had found that no solutions
helped me with the visibility in the Windows 10 Xbox App, in which case I simply moved on and played in front of the screen in it's home location. However, I was still unable to play. Instead, for every digital game I was getting "Just getting
your game ready. Your game will start soon!" and no prior solutions would fix this, which lead me into investigating the issue with the spare moments I had available to me.

I had gone through all the steps to troubleshoot that I could find online on forums such as Reddit, Xbox Support Forums, as well as any and all random websites, etc. Here is a list of things i had done which proved unsuccessful: (please know that all
the while this happening my 2nd console that sits side-by-side on the same network subnet worked the entire time
    )

    - Signed out, then signed back in (FYI - this is not set as my Home Console - my 2nd console is my Home Console) - Did not fix the issue

    - Disconnected external storage, then reconnected - Did not fix the issue

    - Moved game install to Internal HDD - Did not fix the issue

    - Hard restarted my console (multiple times) with every new piece of advice that I was reading. And multiple times by removing the external power lead, pressing the power button several times to drain any residual power.

    > Please note: my console was taking uncharacteristically long to hard restart each time (normal is 33-35 seconds, instead was more like 500-540 seconds - 9 mins)

    - Cleared Cache (alternative MAC) - Did not fix the issue

    - Uninstalled and Reinstalled as well as Re-Downloaded games - Did not fix the issue

    - Checked Network Diagnostics, both basic and detailed (by pressing both shoulder buttons and triggers at the same time to give you more details in multiplayer network test). Confirmed everything was GOOD - Did not fix the issue

    - Turned off ALL network equipment to ensure no bad DNS entries, CAM table history, etc. was contributing to the issue (painful when you provide network connectivity to 30+ devices in your home), waited for 5 minutes while all network equipment was turned
off as well as both Xbox One consoles before turning devices back on in logical order (or perhaps just the order my OCD wanted); Modem, then Router, then Switches, then AP's, confirming network access, then Internet access, then turned on both consoles, waited
to boot into home screen. My Xbox One console still had the same issue with all digital games (both large (90GB+) and small (<500MB) in their installation size), while my 2nd console worked as before (as it presumably would). Did not fix the issue!

Last but not least, I decided to go with one last piece of advice that was surreptitiously floating around on some forums and I had been avoiding the entire time. A Factory Reset. I hate doing them because they take time, however, this was my last attempt
to fix this issue. I performed the Factory Reset and decided to keep my Games and Apps. Process took about 20 mins, then I went through the setup screens, signed in (which took 10 minutes alone) and cringed as I started to launch a game, getting the "Just
getting your game ready. Your game will start soon!" message. Then I saw the Album Art, still not getting my hopes up, then the main menu loaded. WORKING AGAIN! We had success. We had resolution. Gaming life now restored back to normal again.

FYI - This also fixed by Windows 10 Streaming via Xbox App issue as originally mentioned above. (Bonus)

Personal thoughts; My Opinion Only - I believe it was OS Corruption; needed to be factory reset in order to replace any corrupted system files after a system update for which I only understand idiopathically as I have no working knowledge
of how the system files operate on the Xbox One consoles. Either that or it needed to invalidate any cache on both Internal and external storage to prompt it to be re-downloaded, re-synced (deleted and replaced). I could go on with guessing the cause, but
I'd be best to leave that to Xbox Support to provide their 2 cents on the situation.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Didn't realise it would end up being this long! I hope this helps anyone looking around out there for help.

    Kind regards,

Started getting the "just getting your game ready" thing for all my digital games? Please help!

Hey RiversEdge11! Was the Xbox using Instant-On before it was unplugged? The external may have been on when it was unplug which could cause some damage to it. Post back and let me know!
