Just getting a black screen when I try to play a game

Tazzhh's temporary fix doesn't work for me, but this does, every time. With your console internet connected, start it up, pick "Skip Sign-in", start whatever game you desire, and sign in at the game's start screen. Happy gaming

 

Btw Microsoft, you owe me 2 days of live gold. I didn't pay for non-service.

 

This happened to both my 360's exact same thing it reads the game then stops spinning the disc and black screens and if i try to return to the dashboard it freezes.

 

I have fixed the issue.

What i did first was clear my System Cache.

then i Redownloaded the Latest Xbox Dashboard Update.

I did this by going to System - Storage - Highlight the Storage device you use but dont go into it -

Press LB,RB,X,LB,RB,X then follow the onscreen instructions. wait until that is done, then play a game on disc and or downlaoded onto your console and see if it works. if not then i dont know. but this worked for me.

My console is also a Xbox 360 Slim 250GB 4 years old too.

 

I'll give that a try. Tried about everything now. If it really is an issue with Xbox Live, Microsoft is doing a real bang-up job of fixing the problem. Totally no sarcasm here.

 

Will there be a refund for the lost week of GOLD? I've not been able to play for over a week now.

Totaly no games will start up.

Playstation might become a option after playing Xbox for over 8 years now...

 

I have had the same problems for 3 days now...What is Microsoft to do for the down time? Where is some reimbursement?? Actually how can I trade in the xbox 360 for a Playstation 4.

 

Is this a trick to push people to buy xbox one?

 

Yeah...MS really needs to think about a way to compensate those effected. Been without gold service since tuesday now.

 

Happening to me too.. Went to my girlfriends house and couldn't play Call of Duty Ghost. If this is a trick to make us buy the Xbox one I think they can shuve it cause that's low... I'd rather switch over to Ps4 cause what if its happening on the Xbox one
as well... Hmm. Questions, but foreal fix your stuff Microsoft, its getting really old.

 

RoG Dark Kiwi's fix didn't work for me. Hopefully Microsoft has a fix sooner than later. It's getting REALLY annoying having to disconnect and then reconnect from my home network every time I want to use a Live feature.

 

I'm sorry, but for the amount we pay for Gold, this amount of time to fix an issue is ridiculous. I can't believe its taking this long. I was able to play on Wednesday night up until midnight. Thursday? Nada. Friday mid-afternoon/night I could get into Civilization
Revolution, no problem. After shutting off the XBox, then booting back up later? Nothing. Took two hours just to get Civ to restart. Gotham City won't load at all.

This morning? Just for grins I started Gotham City and it booted fine, did the update and ran like a champ. Went to work, came back, and nada again. I only play games I download via the store or Games with Gold, so I'm literally stuck.

As I said, this is ridiculous. I've cleared the cache three times, did a power cycle, and nothing. I've removed the ethernet cable, but that can't help me because all my games are downloads. I've even went as far as to have my friends sign out of their XBox
live accounts (because like this morning, Gotham City Imposters worked when none of my friends were online) to see if it would work. Nothing.

If you expect people to keep paying for Gold, you better run maintenance faster than this.

 

Kiwis thing didn't work... But like I said I went to my girlfriends house and Modernwarfare works and then I tried ghost worked then i had to download some stuff and then go back and it didn't work.. I did black ops and it worked after the second time...
But in all what the heck is going on!! I see friends on playing, having fun, but I'm stuck in this torture of having my game black screen me (and others)..... This is so stupid Microsoft!!! I'm about to call you guys and see what's up. I'll leave a reply once

icupZombies, the same thing for me. My friends aren't having any issues at all, but I am. This is horse hockey. This is why I resisted getting a 360 and stuck with PlayStation and Nintendo. I knew Microsoft would take a problem, stare at it for 379463694
days, and then decide that maybe they should try to do something.
