Just changed gamertag - Can't change it back.

Just changed my gamertag to something I thought was available and unbeknownst to me, it added a suffix to the end of it without me knowing. I just excitedly changed it thinking it was available without reading.

I instantly try to revert it and change it back to my old tag but it consistently says this gamertag isn't available. It's nothing offensive, it's not over the character limit and it's not taken. Why will it not allow me to change it back? It lets me use something extremely similar but not my old one.

It can take time for the system to update showing the old one as being available again.

In order to change it, you will have to change the tag to something else and then change it back with a capital letter. So you will have to pay for 2 gamertag changes. The system doesn't see things like capital letters as making a gamertag unique. So you
can't just change it because the system already sees you as having the gamertag.

I changed my gamertag to IHaveNoLife #3145 as a joke but i can't change it back to GIRLIEgamer0812 can you change it back to GIRLIEgamer0812.

I just changed my gamertag and the EA account says I still have it linked to my old gamertag. I haven't changed my Microsoft account at all only my gamertag. I can't get it back since to change your gamertag it has to be under 12 characters and my old gamertag is 14 characters.

The reason you can't change back is the gamertag you had before is 14 characters and the new limit is 12 with the gamertag change.
