    Just bought Xbox One

This may not be the correct place, but I couldn't find anything about it anywhere, of course I am new to the forums here. If it needs to be moved please let me know where, and possible how to get there, so I may move it.

Let me start off by saying after long hours of debate and many hours of review I finally went off to buy the Xbox One,

I was excited, like anyone should be when a new toy arrives, opened it up and began setting it up like anyone would do. I have now had my Xbox One just over 48 hours, I have yet to play a single game. I own over 10 games.

Now I understand the need to speed up the data transfer rate by installing the games to the hard drive, I get that, I really do. I work in the computer world and I am on computers more during the day than I am away from them. However I opted in for the 500GB
console. Which at first seems like a great idea considering I actually spend more time on the computer and playing computer games than console. I only really got the X.B.O. to play with a few friends like the old days. At any rate the few games I own quickly
took over the space on the hard drive. Now I am looking at having to get external hard drive just so I can play the games I want when I want.

Now I have also heard the argument, "just delete the games you don't play and install them when you want to play them." I had already thought about that, but as I said I have had the console for just over 48 hours and have yet to play a game. Why? Valid
question that has a swift answer. I have been spending the past 48+ hours waiting for crap to install. Games have quit the installation process because the control turns off. Why does the control need to be turned on? My T.V. stays on even if I take the batteries
out of the control. I am still sitting here waiting for the Master Chief collection to finally finish installing.

Furthermore I could go on for ever about the atrocity of the dashboard. Microsoft, have you ever heard the phrase, "More options are less options." This is a derivative of the book, "The Paradox of Choice - Why More is Less." There is so much useless and
unwanted crap on the dashboard. I don't want the kitchen sink in my console. I have a computer that can do all the same stuff and more than this console. Yes, I know what I bought into when I got the console, well I should say I had a general idea, but like
your stupid Windows 10, that I had to go into the registry files and remove a bunch of crap I didn't want on my computer, I wish I could do the same with your newest console.

Little bit of math here, by thanksgiving of 2015 there were only about 15 million X.B.O. consoles sold worldwide, that in comparison to the 30+ million Play Station 4 sold world wide. Furthermore an estimate 83% of households in the U.S. have computers,
that is far more households in the U.S. that already have a computer which does far more than your console and gives 100% customization options for programs you don't want on your PC, where as you force us to retain stupid useless, never going to be used programs
on the 500GB console in which your irremovable programs take up precious space.

I am in marketing, I know the value of less is more, more is less. I get paid by Law Firms to go bash their websites and get them higher ranks on Google for web based traffic. You have too much crap on the console.

TLDR; I can deal with the lack of overly abused hard drive space, however you seriously need to do something about your horrendous U.I. Nobody in their right mind wants everything you have. If your P.C. based operating system can figure out what programs
are rarely if ever used and allow you to delete them, you need to do the same for a $300+ console.

    :)

  2. Just bought an Xbox One...

    Alright!

Finally took the plunge and bought myself the Xbox One with BF4, COD:Ghosts and FIFA 14. Few things I'm hoping you lot can help me with though!

Firstly, is there anyway to stream music and movies from my laptop to my console? On the 360 I used to just go to System Music/Video Player, select my PC and everything loaded and it was perfect. I found a workaround (Right clicking the file on my laptop
and click 'Play to then XboxOS, but it's not ideal for music as I want to be able to play my music whilst in a game.)

Secondly, will Games For Gold be making an appearance to Xbox One? I was guttered when I got my console and couldn't redownload my old arcade games and downloaded games so it'd be nice to get something back to add to my shockingly small collection.

Finally, this one probably can't be answered, does anyone know if there's any rumors regarding 360 titles getting re-released on the One? I'd love to see Fable Anniversary, Bioshock Infinite and a few other titles on the next gen.

    Thank you,

    Curtis

    just bought an xbox one!

oh and the Kinect is definitely useful. it makes the console a completely different console if only for navigation alone.

Even if you were able to uninstall... whatever it is that's annoying you so much. The OS would still require a ton of space, and the X1 would still reserve yet more space for other functions.

Even when using a PC you can uninstall a bunch of programs, sure, but the space an operating system like Windows 10 requires, would still be hogged by the operating system. So uninstalling certain apps and features from the Xbox One [that take up just tens
of megabytes each] wouldn't exactly free up so much space for it to be noticeable.

By the way... your experience on a PS4 would be identical in terms of the OS hording disc space, and sporting first-party apps and features you can't remove. These things aren't PCs. They're closed systems that deliver specific experiences to the entire
userbase... every feature gets the same support, and updates, and content delivered to it, and every user has the same experience.

Just install a game and get playing already. Then maybe you'll have a good story to tell your computer-using, marketing, law firm affiliated colleagues about your next-gen console experience, around the water cooler. =)

Or if less is more, sell your Xbox One, and have one less thing to complain about, but more time for other things... like making up sales figures for consumer products, and somehow conflating those figures with a personal issue you have with the inability
to remove features from a closed system. {XD

Well, I was going to congratulate you on a fine purchase.. however, you've went on a bit of a rant. That's your right and your opinion is as valid as any others.

I purchased a 1TB model in October and opened my new gem only to find a download code rather than a disc. I actually fell asleep before the game was done downloading. Now, I could have played it as it told me that it was ready to be played before done, but
no way was I gonna do that.

Anyway, I also had more than one game and on actual discs to boot. But that's not the point. I wanted to play that one specific game and when it was done, I did just that. I did not then proceed to load more games and then feel bad that I was waiting.

It's very easy to get an external usb drive for more space. Sure I have a 4tb Ps4 however that required some out of warranty work. To think the purchase of a console gives you the ownership without strings like a PC is never going to happen.

Guess what? The Xboxone is sold in other countries besides the U.S. Also my PC/mac isn't connected to my TV permanently to use all these other Apps. I Also have 2 living areas and my X1 and all these other apps is very welcome on in my gaming/Tv area.

That bit about the controller and installing is made up. That does not happen.

Pro tip :- before installing new games go to settings > network > click go offline . Insert disc , install . Once installed go to settings > network > click go online . Install updates once prompted . So much quicker .

  15. You're missing out on everything that makes the XB1 and XBL great, my friend. And for that reason, I pity you. Next time you post, I'd like to hear what you actually liked about the console (and its games, of course). At least that way, you'll be more objective
and won't come off as being so biased or sounding like a cry-baby (no offense).
