Just an idea for Xbox

There is a world of difference between the PC and console. That is what makes a console a console. The fact you can rely on the hardware to be the same for many years and devs will get everything out of it they can.

Microsoft have an answer to your problem. It is called a PC..............or if you want to game on a machine that will last you upto and beyond 10 years. Grab an Xbox.

Just an idea

It would be really great if you could add a video tester one that would indicate what the current FPS is that your experiencing when watching TV or playing a game then you could determine whether or projecting/running at 64 or 128 at the current screen setting
(1920x1080 etc.)

JTKING43, no thanks but never would I want or allow "volunteer moderators" while on Xbox LIVE. The last thing I would ever want is some cry-baby who get's schooled using his "powers" to Suspended my Profile.

Truth, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Short story, give a "volunteer" power and they will abuse it.

 

Chances are I will end up getting an xbox one eventually, with some of the exclusives coming up, and their backwards compatability is huge since I have a 360 currently. I'm probably just worried since all my friends who have bought Xbox one's have since
sold them to get a PS4, and tell me don't waste my time get a PS4 because "it's better, games run smoother, and not a laggy" their words not mine. The other friends of mine say they love their Xbox one etc.

 

They will never do that because they have to ensure that games run the same on all there systems whether you bought it day one or two days ago.

 

lol... they will do it, though. Did nobody wonder why the 360 went from needing 200W to 120W power supplies? There were like, six or seven revisions to the 360's CPU/GPU outputs. Improved heatsinks, onboard memory, extra ports added, neglected ports removed
etc.

There will be newer model Xbox One's down the line that'll run cooler, require less power, all that jazz. The difference will be negligible across models but it will be happening throughout the life-cycle.

People with ye olde white 360's didn't complain when S's and E's arrived. Even if their machine was making turbine engine vroooom noises and running super hot as they gamed. People won't complain when revised models of the Xbox One arrive.

They may be able to run higher native resolutions, and such. People with upscaled resolutions barely/can't notice/tell when res
is upscaled - so they won't mind if that changes with newer models running native res's. IMO

 

Revisions that make the console more efficient power wise and smaller are not the same as a total revamp of a console to change the resolution, frame rates etc. That never happened with the 360, he games played and looked exactly the same whichever model
you played on.

 

Hairy: They (MS Xbox div) could upgrade the system to run games at full 1080p or even 4k at 60fps and still provide any newer releases to current xbox owners.

Sorta like what game developers are currently doing. One version for Xbox One and another for the 360. Only without removing MP etc from the game.

The only thing that would change for current X1 owners, is the visuals/smoothness of games, which current X1 owners say. 'the difference is so negligible that it's not worth bothering about.'

However, for newer X1 owners. If they (MS) did decide to go there. Would finally be able to SEE what they are missing.

In fact, I bet if MS did do a hardware upgrade. Many of the forum goers who claim. 'I can't see a difference' would be among the 1st in line to buy an upgraded xbox one.

 

It's only you 360 players who worry about this crap, rest of us are enjoying cracking games that look great and run smoothly. Seriously move on and stop trying hard to convince yourself you don't want One.

 

@Genchy~ Game DVR and Twitch streaming never happened with the 360 either. I agree though, which is why I said, "they may..."

It's possible that older models will run newer games at upscaled res's, newer models will run them natively. Older games on any model will run exactly as they did at launch/post-patches. It could happen and not impact the user-base negatively. Could... mind
you. {=D

 

Those visual upgrades will come with the "Two" or whatever it's called which some on here believe is just a year or two away

 

Personally I agree it's hardware revisions that will come, I doubt they would release a graphically superior model even if they could, too much damage control for existing users. As I say never happened to the 360.

 

Yes they might have a bunch of ticked off people if they offer a xbox with an upgrade but people who PC game deal with that all the time and they keep coming back for more.

Here's the thing... I used to be a PC gamer. I couldn't be happier I got out of that endless upgrade cycle. The only thing I need to concern myself with now is keeping up with
my games list, not my wish list of upgrades that I don't really need, but just 'have to have' for the best gaming experience.
My 'gaming life' is much simpler and easier with my console. I like that.

In short, the very reason I don't (and certainly don't want bothered with) PC game is because I had to "deal with that all the time"... so I didn't keep coming back for more.

Therefore, it's pretty clear I'd be one of that bunch of ticked off people. Not only do I agree with those who say there won't be an upgrade until the next gen console comes out...
I support that concept.

What's odd is how easily some can just dismiss a bunch of ticked off people as no big deal... just because they know another bunch of people who have a different preference. I'm
pretty sure MS has been in business long enough to understand that a bunch of ticked off people are also known as a 'potential loss in sales'.

 

If they did it and the current models retained their performance capabilities, what's the issue, Blue? You'd be getting the same games, with the same performance on the current models, and newer games too. Just there'd just be newer models floating around
that'd be capable of slightly better.

The length of last-gen's life-cycle won't be repeated, and R&D'ing, producing, marketing, and establishing a brand of a new console would be way more work and costly than just releasing revised Xbox One models with its installed-base, game library, and strong
brand already in place.

I don't get why people would be ticked off. It's not like a revised model would render the X1's we have now defunct. Just like the Elite controller doesn't render standard controllers obsolete. People are already talking about the X1 Elite bundle's improved
HDD. That's no different. Doesn't bother me a jot. {=D

I ain't worried whatever the plan is for newer models. S'all so far off it don't matter. Better res/power in games could be delivered to newer models in patches from devs that older models wouldn't get. Meh.

 

You really believe devs would take the time to work on those patches? If they do which I doubt they would they wouldn't do it for free and then once the patch is out I bet the number of people who download it wouldn't be enough for them to keep doing it
