Just a lil USB prob...no biggie

So the back ports on my Xbox are powering my USB devices (they light up in response) however the Xbox isn't picking them up as memory devices or anything at all. The same device works on the front ports and I'm wondering if the console simply isn't designed
to use the back ports for memory storage devices and only applicable for kinect and USB wired functions (like charging a phone or a wired controller).

Why can't xbox give something back like a transfer cable????

No prob bro. Trust me though - its easier and quicker to just do it with a usb storage device.

 

I think you nailed it my friend, the USB port on the back is on a dedicated bus which doesn't share bandwidth with anything else on the system for the Kinect. The ones on the front are shared on a bus with other items and do not have the same milliamps output
as the back so this is the usual reason why some devices can't connect to the back usb ports.
