1. What does a private IP address do to the xbox one and xbox 360. Why won't they make nice?

2. What exactly is teredo tunneling? what can you do to fix it?

3. How can you tell if it's a private IP address just by looking at it?

:)

Just a couple of questions

Hard drive is not manageable. The my games and apps section is where you manage your stuff. Push the menu button to uninstall something. To redownload, go to the store and redownload it. And yes all saves are stored on the cloud. Yes, some this is not ideal.
Updates will come.

3. Just a couple of questions

Hi guys I just got my XB1 and I am having a hard time figuring some things out (why is it that the 360 IU is a 1000xs better?). First, how do you manage your hard drive? I often remove games I am done with and want to free up space on my HD. I cant seem
to find the HD anywhere. Also where do you go to see what you have DLed? Just in case I need to redown load something. Oh and lastly are games saved on cloud automatically? Or do I need to set that up? If so, how do I set up cloud saves? Thanx in advance.

Just a couple of questions.

This may or may not answer your questions completely. I had some barrier understanding your questions in full.

1.) The IP Addresses are given by your home/business modem/router or gateway in order to separate the devices. Their 2 of the same products but they are given different IP's so that your internet/ISP can Identify the separate devices.

2.) As for Teredo: it's a transition technology that gives full IPv6 connectivity for IPv6-capable hosts which are on the IPv4 Internet but which have no direct native connection to an IPv6 network. Compared to other similar protocols its distinguishing
feature is that it is able to perform its function even from behind network address translation (i.e NAT) devices such as home routers.

To fix it however, their are many sources on the net to go by, just bing searching "fix Teredo Tunneling"

3.) The Settings>Network>Setup Wireless/AdvanceSettings should reveal most of what your settings have including MAC Address.

Hope that answers you're questions. Just a couple of questions. :)

Okay that kindaaaa answered it.

For question number one

I am curious to find why the xbox is not a big fan of private IP addresses.

For question number two:

Okay, I believe I kind of get that answer. So in result, if IPv6 or Teredo tunneling is not enabled on the home network the xbox one won't really appreciate the network too much unless you enable the feature because it needs that transition? I hope this
made sense! lol

For question number 3:

I was curious if there was a distinctive way of finding out what makes a private ip address.

Just a couple of questions. :)

Hello again,

Ahh, I see what you meant there.

To answer your first question in full. I guess when it comes down to it, it all really depends on your home network. Different Modems/Routers or Gateways all work differently as well accordance to your Internet Service Provider. Making a Private IP is well
frustrating if one is not exactly sure on the type of devices their working with.

I've never personally met anyone who had struggling problems with Private IP, this is unless of course they did not configure it correctly.

For question two.

To Answer in short, yes. Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), works better. IPv4 is technically outdated to some degree, but that's where automatic Tunneling comes in handy.

And lastly, question number three.

Trying to be basic without being so technical, but "What makes a ip address so?" You'll first need to know your home address, and the last digits are usually the ones you need to change around to make a private IP. For example, my home is 10.0.0.1 and you
can give your Xbox a IP such as 10.0.0.9, that's on a gateway as an example.

Regarding identification of private (non-routable) IP addresses, it is quite simple. If the IP falls within the ranges listed here, it is a private IP:

en.wikipedia.org/.../Private_network

The Xbox works fine with a private IP, as long as it is directly behind a NAT router that has a public WAN (Internet) IP. If it is behind a router with a private WAN IP, and the upstream router that has the public IP is beyond your control (for example,
is maintained by your apartment complex, school, etc.), that double NAT situation will prevent you from achieving open NAT. Think of a public WAN IP as a regular telephone number that anyone can call and when forwarded to the Xbox results in open NAT. A
private WAN IP is like an internal extension number that only certain persons (e.g. those inside your company) can call. Even if you forward that extension number (the private WAN IP) to your Xbox, you won't get open NAT because folks outside (on the Internet)
can only call in through the regular telephone number (public IP), not the internal extension (private IP). If you have no control over forwarding the regular number to the Xbox, open NAT is pretty much impossible to achieve (note that sometimes, especially
with an Xbox 360, you may get a false open NAT report even when double NAT'd).

Reading between the lines, I take it that you have a double NAT situation. It may be fixable if you post details.
First, how do you manage your hard drive?
For now, you don't. Hard drive space management is coming along with external HDD support.
I often remove games I am done with and want to free up space on my HD.
You
can still do that. Highlight the game tile and hit the Menu button on the controller (where Start used to be).
Also where do you go to see what you have DLed?
I don't think there's an easy way at the moment. commerce.microsoft.com can show your
purchase history.
Oh and lastly are games saved on cloud automatically?
That's all automatic at this time.
