July 2014 update broke Live TV for Cisco 8742HDC

I just got my Xbox One 3 days ago. Suddenly had this exact problem today. Same Cable DVR: Cisco 8742HDC with Time Warner Cable. The STB has the latest firmware and the Xbox is definitely updated as well. Current OS is: 6.2.11797.0 (xb_rel_1411.141124-1759)

I read through the thread and was able to get audio to return and video to stop freezing/skipping only via the holding Xbox button on console down long enough to beep, rest and cold hard boot.

Am I to understand this will happen to me again in 2-3 days? Are there better HD DVRs available yet that Time Warner offers that does not have this problem nor other issues?

  2. Hi Tandaemonium,

I haven't had the issue happen since the XBox One October 2014 update.

Sometimes audio takes a couple seconds to kick in (I think it is re-handshaking over HDMI when it does this), but it does eventually work correctly without me needing to reboot anything.

If you've cold-booted both the DVR and the XBox One, does the issue reoccur? You might have a different issue, not sure. Just trying to help and offer my feedback, since I'm the original poster.

Good luck! Let us know what you find!

It endured for 30 minutes: Frozen/choppy video and zero audio, though I could hear sound effects from Xbox One UI (button presses, etc.)

As I said, cold booting the Xbox One was the only way I remedied my issue...as I read from earlier in this thread, but can expect the problem to arise again in 2-3 days. So far it's the 4th day and it hasn't come up yet; still monitoring.

What's interesting to me is that supposedly this issue has been resolved by some October 2014, as you say, update. My Xbox is brand new as of the 28th of December and received any and all updates/if any upon setup.

I have this issue. Reading the thread, it appears you all had the issue and it ws fixed with the update. I'm using the most updated versions for my Xbox, but I'm using a Cisco 4742HDC. Basically, the Cisco flips resolution on the Xbox and I get no audio.
The Cisco will glad "2d" then the time each flip. The only fix is to power down the Xbox and unplug the charger. Is there something that can fix this? Maybe address this model from Cisco?

    Oh that's right.

I can confirm Stumblinh with the Cisco 4742HDC and "2d". When my problem ocurred the 4742HDC would go back and forth between the time and "2d" in the display

I also have this issue with a Cisco Explorer 4742HDC (COX Cable) -> XBOX One OS Version 6.2.11787.0 (xb_rel_1411.141124-1759) fre -> Vizio M470SL Version 3.19.5.001

Same issue. 2d flashes on the front of the Cisco which indicates it is trying to initiate the HDMI HDCP handshake and the XBOX ONE is either not responding correctly or it is not allowing the handshake to pass through correctly both ways between the Cisco
    and the TV.

There are some annoying work arounds ... one Power everything off and reboot the Cisco and the XBOX ONE (Unplugging the XBOX ONE as well)... this does not always resolve the issue. The other work around is to plug the Cisco into your tv for the handshake
and then quickly unplug it from the tv and into the input on the XBOX ONE. Neither work around is acceptable as the XBOX team just has to fix the way the XBOX ONE responds to the handshake and make it proper.

If your team has not figured out that it is the HDMI HDCP handshake yet... fire them... especially when I as a consumer... (although I am a systems developer as well) can debug the issue without having the source code in less time... then yes they need
to be fired as it is clear incompetency.

The Secured cable connection that Jacob's (PUCSnake) reciever is talking about IS the fact that it REQUIRES A VALID HDMI HDCP Handshake before it can send the Audio/Video signals across the HDMI Cable legally.

Just got the same issue on a Cisco 4742HDC...this is a new service for me so I have no reference as to which update affected the TV App. Any new suggestions or work arounds? Help!

This issue might be resolved for me.

I'm not sure if it was:

    - the October 2014 XBox One Update (which we recently received), or

    - the Cisco 8742HDC DVR software update (which we also recently received, verified by larger on-screen fonts, and new progress bars for our DVR items)

... but I haven't noticed the glitching video problem in the past couple days!

Fingers crossed that it's fully resolved!

    Thanks,

    Jacob
