July 2014 update broke Live TV for Cisco 8742HDC

I have the 6.2.11274.0 (xb_rel_1407.140703-1704) fre update (July 2014).

I continue to have HDMI/HDCP issues with my Cisco 8742HDC DVR when it is connected to the XBox One, whereas I had no issues before that July 2014 update.

Why are there DVR controls on live tv?

If your cable box/cable provider supports pause, rewind etc for live TV... the controls will work to do that. As will the triggers on the controller. You have to have the proper device set up in Devices under the Xbox one settings. For example, I have
a Cisco 8742HDC when I chose auto when setting up my dvr (entered Cisco for name) it returned the wrong Cisco code and I could not pause live TV or use the controls. When I chose Manual for set up and entered 8742HDC for model it all works fine now. And
those controls do work when I am watching recorded shows om the Cisco box.

 

Xbox one error code 0x8027025a

I had the issue happen again. This time, I think I may have found a "workaround" to get it working again, without cold booting either the DVR or the XBox One.

To reiterate: the issue was that the signal [video and audio] from the DVR was blinking in and out.

The Workaround:

I performed the following sequence of actions, with power settings set to Toggle DVR on/off (since that's all my DVR supports):

- Start with DVR on and XBox One on, exhibiting the problem

- Turn XBox One off normally (which toggles the DVR off)

- Turn the DVR on (even though you cannot see/hear the content)

- Turn XBox One on (which toggles the DVR off)

- Turn DVR on

Once things handshake over HDMI, the problem is gone! (until it comes back, possibly by turning the XBox off normally, in which case I have to redo this workaround)

Any progress in getting this problem fixed?

 

Thanks for that, PUCSnake! Right now, the only thing to do is wait for an update from me when I have one. There's no other information right now.

 

Tonight, the workaround did not work. I had to cold boot the XBox One, in order to get DVR audio/video to stop skipping.

I hope we get this fixed soon :/

 

Just chiming in that I am also having the same issues with my Cisco 8742hdc having the hdcp message come up and losing sound.

 

I'm having the exact same issue with the same dvr. Very frustrating. Anyone know how often these updates roll out?

 

I have Comcast infinity going into a TiVo Premiere with cable card thru Xbox One and to Samsung TV. Since the July update I have been having the same issue. Switching HDMI cables did not fix. Power cycling all devices work but it is soooo annoying. Esp because
rebooting the TiVo takes a long time. Please fix MS! Any ETA?

 

I have a Cisco 8742hdc and a Panasonic TV as well and getting the same. I read somewhere about putting your xbox one on energy saving mode. That had fixed the issue for a few days but then this evening it popped back up again. I haven't seen a response
from xbox for awhile on this thread. Can we expect any kind of resolution anytime soon?

 

My wife informed me that the August update did NOT resolve this issue.

 

Thanks so much, PUCSnake! Has your wife or yourself tried to hard reset the console since the update, or force quit the app like I had previously asked? I'd like to make sure everything is done before I update the engineers with this information.

 

Yes. Even our previous workaround sometimes does not work. The only thing that works, is a hard reset, where we hold the xbox button pressed until it beeps, wait until it shuts down completely and stops whirring, and then tap it again to turn it on to boot
it up cold. We have to do this pretty much every 2 to 3 days, to fix this problem, even after the August update.
