I have personally had an Xbox special edition console replaced with exactly the same model, and a special edition controller replaced with exactly the same one. I would imagine they always replace with the same, or they advise you on options. (The Microsoft
Agent response would be the most accurate, just giving you my personal -very good- experience with hardware support).
