Joining a game doesn't work on Xbox One

Hello,

if I try to join a split-screen game by pressing the according button on the second controller, the Xbox tells me that it failed.

- Tested in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

- Using the failing controller for player one and joining with the other controller works.

- ... so the order in which the controllers join seems to matter. (Took me 6h to figure that out, but the guest went home at this point anyway)

- Automatic Updates are enabled, so the controller firmware should be up to date.

- The controller was barely ever used (maybe for 10 hours).

(This is one of an extensive list of game-breaking issues I have with Xbox, the Microsoft Store, and the Xbox App for PC.)

Clean your console's MAC, restart your internet devices for a few minutes, and try again.

To clean the MAC follow this path

Settings>general>network settings>advanced settings>alternative MAC address and click clear and restart the console when prompted.

If the problem persists reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

To reset the console>

Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***

If joining from the server browser doesn't work either restart your xbox or the game.

It happens with all accounts, whoever the second player is, just doesn't work. Doesn't matter who opens the game, I've tried logging in with both controllers on and signed in, tried with just one signed in and then another logging in. Its like the "Press A to Join" for the second player doesn't work. The second player can navigate menus and log in just not join, ever!

However, 24hrs. With how the Xbox One currently works where there is no 'Invite to Game', we have to create Party Chats for friends to join our matches on some games and if someone joins the Party but doesn't join our match, they can completely screw up
the 'Join match' function as most of the time, it makes other people join them instead of me/us. And we can't kick out that one person who isn't in our match, messing up other people from joining so we have to create a new Party.
