Joining a friend's Minecraft multiplayer world created by a mobile device on my Xbox One

I've been trying to join one of my friend's world on Minecraft but I keep getting the error saying "unable to connect to world" when I join using my friend's tab and when he invites me. We both have the most recent version, open NATs, and both of our settings allow us to play with different platforms. I can easily join servers like Hive and CubeCraft. I've tried to log out of my account on both Xbox and Minecraft itself. I've reset my console. He's easily had other friends join on their Xbox's but mine seems to be the only one with an issue....any other things I can do to get it to work?

Yes actually, there is a quick way to tell what version you have installed.

The bedrock edition of Minecraft is only called "Minecraft"

Whereas the other version is "Minecraft xbox one edition"

I believe it is the bedrock edition you require to play with friends on different devices.

Thank you so much for the alternative…when i get the chance tomorrow, i’ll look more into that!

Is there an easy way for me to check that? And if so how can I fix it to allow me to play my Xbox while he plays mobile?

Hello, if the above advise does not work, please check if you are on the bedrock version of Minecraft.

I say this because there are two versions on xbox, I believe it is the bedrock version that allows crossplay as it is the same version used on other platforms including pc, I know this causes some confusion as it did with myself at one point.

Of course! My NAT type stays on type one (open) even when on the hotspot. We also both do not have any mods downloaded…
