Joining a certain friend issue.

Before I get told to port forward etc. I would like you to know the details. My friend and I have played xbox for two years and have never had a connection issue. Recently, we cannot join a party, private chat, or even a game with each other, nothing. Now,
this is where things get weird. At first I checked to see if either of us accidentally blocked each other, but that's not the case. Then, I thought maybe someone's connection of the two of us was toxic; however, that is not the case either. The kicker is the
fact that I can join him and he can join me whenever I log in to a different account. (My friend has his account downloaded to my xbox). Unless I'm logged into someone else, or we have a middle man host the party and game, we can't join each other whatsoever,
and it is very frustrating. Here are a few things that recently happened that might be notale:

1. I changed my gamertag right before all of this

2. He was about to run out of xbox live, but it automatically renewed. He called and got it his money back and live removed, but he could still get online somehow. He cleared all of that up and got his live removed for good. He decided he had the money for
xbox live afterall, but I advised him to try a trial first just in case the issue was unresolved, so I let him use a 2 day trial code I had laying around. He got on and we still cannot join each other.

Some notable troubleshoots we have tried:

1. Deleting each other and re-adding

2. Preferring each other as players

3. Deleting our xbox live account and redownloading it on our Xboxes

4. Deleting system cache

Our NAT's are both Open. This predicament is beyond me and makes zero sense. If anyone could be of help it would be appreciated.

Joining a friend

my daughter is trying to join her cousin on Xbox. They are friends but when she goes to invite him to join her game it's greyed out??? How can she join him???

I have the same problem and tried all of this too. My friend and I cannot hear eachother on xbox live party, the little microphone icon doesnt appear, and we cannot join game requests from eachother. We get the due to limitations error.

I am on PlayStation. This is the only game causing issues, and I have discovered that it is only a certain friend I can’t join. I can join other worlds just fine.

While I'm still having fun on 360 with bf4 but the freezing on certain maps, the pain of trying to join with friends are IMO the biggest issues. I hope they fix these issues soon

Based on the description, the child account cannot join online or multiplayer games due to an error. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

As per your description, the child account wants to join the game and there is a prompt to change the online and privacy settings of the child account to be able to play online and multiplayer games. To change the online and privacy settings of the child account, the parent or organizer of Xbox Family settings app must sign in the account.xbox.com/settings and click on child profile to make changes. The child can only see the settings. The option to join multiplayer games must set to allow. See the steps and screenshot below: Note: highlighted in yellow must be set to allow.

Log in to https://account.xbox.com/settings with the parent’s Microsoft account.
Click the child account's profile.
In the navigation tabs, click Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices Online Safety
Select Allow for You can create and join clubs, and You can join multiplayer games.
Then click Submit

To enable chat for people not on the child's friends list:

In the table header:

Click Privacy
Select Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites.
Select Friends or Everyone then click Submit.
