I've preordered the Scorpio today.

^^ Is that a lot? How many gigs does the Xbox One have now?

 

Xbox 1 and PS4 have 8GB RAM. Xbox 1 only allows 5GB of RAM for gaming. The other 3GB is reserved for the system. 5GB of RAM is not enough for high end gaming. Especially with DDR3 memory. Xbox Scorpio looks to correct this with 12GB GDDR5 memory with a respectable
bandwidth of 320GB/s, not some mesley 68GB/s DDR3 memory bandwidth. I saw rumours Xbox Scorpio will have a faster clocked AMD APU (rumoured 2.2Ghz but that's still better than 1.75Ghz). Xbox 1 only has a 1.75Ghz clock speed AMD APU. That is definitely not
good enough for high end gaming. Even Xbox 360's tri-core CPU is clocked at 3.2Ghz.

 

I would have laughed if someone suggested to me that I would be playing the next "Elder Scrolls" game on the same XBox 360 that I used to play "Oblivion".

On the flip side anyone who played "Skyrim" on the exact same "High End PC" that they used for "Oblivion" would have been 'laughed at'.

It's amazing what they did with the 360.

One thing is for sure. With a really high price tag for this machine and the Playstation Pros then the regular machines are going to seem a right bargain which was probably the plan from day 1.

With pre ordering things like consoles I use someone like Amazon that way I'm not needing a deposit and can cancel my pre order at any time if I don't like the sound of the console at any time and I will do the same with Scorpio.

 

That's the same as my local GAME shop. Stick a £20 deposit down but can cancel at any point and get my money back if I decide against it.

I'd still always go with my local store when buying consoles. Any problems with it and they change it there and then. No worries about packing it up, sending it off and waiting for it to be fixed or a new one sent out. Max time I'd be without a console is
the time it takes me to get to shop, swap it over and get back home, about 45mins-1 hour tops

Not really... The Xbox One has 8GB, so 12-16 would be a good guess for the Scorpio. Many PC's these days have 16-32 or even more, so 12 really isn't overly impressive.

 

As I said before I know zilch about how these machines work. I understand technology moves on but I'm honestly happy with the games I'm playing on PS4/XB1 today in terms of stories/gameplay and graphics and I still don't think we've seen what today's consoles
are truly capable of.

Of course I'm excited for new tech, just recently got the XB1S, picking up the PS Pro in November but using Scorpio as an example, whether it has 8, 12 or 32GB of ram, means nothing to me unless it has the games to back it up.

 

Well I can imagine it being a million times better than Xbox 1. The PS4 isn't that much more powerful than the X1 but in my opinion games games look a lot better excluding multiplats. So if they look better and the console is only a little more powerful
than the X1, imagine how good Scorpio games will look because that has waaaay more horsepower.

Having both consoles and having played some multi platform games on both I really can't tell the difference. However even though I think some of XB1 exclusives look brilliant but some of the PS4 exclusives are truly stunning. I still wouldn't say there's
a huge gap but there is a gap.

I'm interested to see how Forza Horizon 3 with HDR looks tomorrow, some have reported its the best looking console game to date. I also look forward to seeing what PS Pro can do come November. Scorpio being a lot more powerful than all of them the mind can
only imagine what games will look like.

As I always say though, I like nice graphics as much as anyone but that doesn't automatically make a great game, if the gameplay is crap, well it's crap whether running at 720p or in 4K. If we are lucky we will get great gameplay with eye watering visuals,
if it was a choice though then I'd take gameplay over looks every day of the week.

I just wonder how good these VR units will look. Again it's not for me but we gave ordered Sonys VR set for my daughter so I'm intrigued to try it. Who knows, zero interest now but I could love it if I'm not as duck as a pig first lol

I am tempted but can't even afford that at the moment, plus I'm hoping to get a Scorpio (putting money aside every month) so I don't see the point in buying an XB1 S and only using it for a year.
