120hz and AMD FreeSync (Variable Refresh Rate)

Hello!! I come to get help because I can not activate the 120hz and AMD FreeSync at the same time ...

    I have a monitor Iiyama GB2560HSU, AMD FreeSync, 144hz, 1080p.

    - When I put the display on HDMI, I can switch to 120hz, but I can not activate AMD FreeSync (Variable refresh rate)

    - When I put the display on DVI, I can not switch to 120hz and I can not activate AMD FreeSync.

    - When I put the display on automatic, I can not switch to 120hz, but I can activate AMD FreeSync !!

How does this do ?? I see that others have managed to activate the 2!

    Thank you for your answers!!

    Freesync over original Xbox

Should an HDMI to Display-port adapter allow me to access the variable refresh rate option?

Currently, I have an ASUS MG248QR, this allows me to access freesync and its 144hz range.

I have an HDMI to Display-port adapter (Compliant with VESA Dual-Mode DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4 and HDCP) which allows me to activate it's adaptive sync on my monitor. However, on the Xbox One the Variable refresh rate option is
    currently grayed out.

At this time, is my only option to buy a gaming monitor that allows freesync 1 over HDMI exclusively? Or upgrade my Xbox One to an X or S?

I will also add that I have an older Xbox One model. No S or X. I'm a bit stumped, because at this time, the only thing that's holding up the whole thing from working is my xbox one.

I would like more information/guidelines on do's and don'ts when it comes to Freesync as well.

    Hey Magan,

The Xbox Insider is still in beta. So, it means that there might be bugs on certain features. I suggest to wait until the official updates comes and try that freesync. The other part is that you might need to lower the Hz on your monitor since the maximum
Hz support for the console games is 60Hz.

XBOX series X support for 1440p 120hz on certain monitors

The monitor has variable refresh rate (freesync), which works with 1440p (on PC) with range 46 - 148 hz ... So is it still possible that the standard is the problem? I would think if monitor has VRR that it can display any refresh rate , especially if I enable it in settings.

1440p@120Hz WITH HDR on Xbox Series X ?

    Hi,

What ngocphi has said is somewhat true but not entirely. I'm sure they mean well but I little more explanation is required.

The Asus VG32VQ can do 120Hz at 1440P, however, the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) FreeSync on this display tops out at 85Hz over HDMI. So for Xbox, 1440P 120Hz and VRR is a no go. You should be able to get to 120Hz with VRR at 1080P though.

The inability to do 1440P @ 120Hz is a limitation of your display's hardware, nothing to do with the older HDMI 2.0 port.

Most of these monitors rated refresh is based on their Display Port hardware.

*Continued* Unable to get 120Hz at 1440p Even Though Monitor Supports 144Hz at 1440p

I'm still hoping Microsoft will have a fix soon for this problem with my AOC AGON AG322QC4 hooked up to an Xbox One X in the hdmi 2.0 port using a hdmi 2.0 cable.

The best I can set it to is 120hz @1080p or 60hz @1440p. With 60hz @1440p I can activate Variable Refresh Rate but I really want 120hz @1440p.
Well according to tom hardware 144hz is only suppotted with freesync your best option is to use the tv setup wizard

And then asking your monitor manufacturer for help it maybe that it is only supported in freesync and display port only for that hz and resolution please refer to your manufacturer for more info

Xbox is usually good with detection

I looked at the manual the previous users posted ya

It doesnt support 120 hz thru hdmi with 1440p

    Xbox one s 1440p 120hz problems

    Hi,

This monitor only supports 100Hz over HDMI with FreeSync turned ON (higher via Display Port).

With FreeSync OFF this monitor does support 1440p @ 120Hz as per the Manual and LG support.

    Source: https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors

This makes means that with FreeSync ON you will be limited to 60Hz with xbox. Can you try turning off FreeSync via the Monitor and/or untick Variable Refresh Rate on the xbox. Hopefully this makes 120Hz available to you.
