    I've been having an issue with getting 120hz and vrr on my tcl 55r635


    When I set vrr to on, framerate to 120hz and 1440p everything checks out. However when I launch a game (Black ops Cold War) and I check the stats on the tv settings it reverts back to 4k 60hz. Does anyone else have an issue like this? thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.

    My new tv supports 120hz but xbox says it doesn’t

    just having hdmi 2.1 does not make the tv support 120hz for xbox, as has already been said, your tv does not support it. you tv does have 120hz panel but not vrr, you can try and force the xbox to connect with 120hz manually but you would not have freesync/vrr and you will get horrible tearing as the xbox cannot sustain a constant 120fps.

    And apparently that tv only has 4x hdmi 2.0 ports.

    Does your monitor support both VRR and 120Hz on Xbox? I have read that only specfic monitors out there support both enabled. For awhile the VRR was only supported at 60Hz but there are some monitors now that will allow you to enable both VRR and 120Hz.

    Xbox One X VRR Issue

    I had the same issue using a Denon hdmi 2.1 AVR. I solved it using VRR with 120hz, but I have a hdmi 2.1 tv and a Series X, not One X. I guess you are stuck with 4k without vrr or full hd 120 and vrr. Another solution is to connect the Xbox directly to the tv and use arc/earc for audio, but One X does not support 4k 120hz, so you are stuck with full hd 120 if you use vrr.
