Its using up all my bandwidth

Has anyone had the problem of the xbox one constantly downloading even while off? I am downloading almost one gig per hour and it will not stop. Any suggestions? It is a new console but I have used well over 60 gigs in the last 3 days. How can anyone
    afford this?

    :)

  2. xbox using all my bandwidth

    Thanks for reply

I assumed it was the router and have gone into the router settings to see if there's anything I can do to no avail.

Just find it odd that it seems like the only device that does this especially with both a wired and wireless connection. I would of possibly expected it when it's wired but wireless I thought it'd get treated like any other device.

Wasn't sure if there was some setting on the Xbox itself that gave it priority over other devices.

Oh well I'll call my isp tonight to see if they can shed some light on the matter

  3. xbox using all my bandwidth

Recently traded my PS4 for Xbox one s and finding that my Xbox uses up all my bandwidth pretty much rendering other devices useless.

This obviously only occurs when the Xbox needs it like when downloading or streaming but do you guys have any idea whether this is a router issue etc or is this to do with the Xbox?

I never noticed this happen with my PS4 but can't be sure as only had new isp for couple of weeks before I got rid of PS4

Get games over 15GB big on disc. There is one sure way to make sure it doesn't update when you give a command via the controller to the Dashboard to shutdown. Unplug your console and turn it off at the wall. It can't do any updating without power.

Is it just installing regular updates for a bunch of new games, since you mention it's a new console? Pretty much every game (including those bought on disc) require Day One updates. Halo MCC had a 15+GB patch on day one alone, followed by several more sizable
chunks... and those getting in on the Halo 5 beta get an additional 10+GB. If you have a tonne of new games, it could just be the initial updates.

Also, as above mentions, your Xbox can do a bunch of uploading - which also uses bandwidth. Every time you "Xbox Record That", it's backing it up online. Maybe to multiple places, if you have save to OneDrive active as well. Many games will auto-save clips
when certain checkpoints are reached or conditions are met (Horizon 2 creates celebratory video clips for pretty much anything). It's an option you can turn off, which will save a tonne of bandwidth.

Turn off the 'Always On' feature. Will help a tiny little bit.

even when playing online your looking at 200 - 700MB per hour if playing destiny and the odd other game, research before buying but both consoles use a lot of data these days and like others say it will get worse.

unfortunately, some people live quite far from exchange services and around the world some places don't have multiple companies providing services so there is no competition, it is one of those problems that a large percentage of people around the world
get stung with as these companies charge a fortune just for a limited service as there is nobody else to turn too.

I am not sure why MS does not set up their own ISP with fast connections... unlimited data etc etc etc.. especially to rural areas... make it like XBLXtra.. charge $500 year... (60 basic XBL plus 35/month access).. sounds like a lot maybe to some... but
not in the over all scheme of things... for those with crappy service.... they will pay to have unlimited 50/30... trust me... and it will also raise the digital sales... (more $$ for MS)

That's not a lot at all. Giving up one pair of shoes would cover that.
