It's Time To Buy "Evolved"

Brandeisel, it comes down to this. All that crappy cosmetic DLC you are mad about , is paying for all the free maps, new characters ( enhanced characters ) and new game modes. Not everything with DLC is bad. To condemn a great game because you dont like
the DLC they put out seems pretty foolish to me, but hey you are an adult ,do as you see fit.

Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 came to PC, so never say never. If it does happen though, I'd expect it to be once that console generation is on it's way out.

 

I agree with DeadFall256. It is great when cosmetic dlc is used instead of maps/characters and other "meaty" dlc. It is great to get free map packs and stuff and not actually split the player base.

I treid evolve solo and with friends and family later. Was bored fairly quickly with it, unlike L4D. I still play those on steam sometimes. But I might get this at the price and run some with my wife anyway.

 

Nope sorry can't be okay with it. If you buy it new why should people have to pay extra for a blue gun if they want one? Why charge them extra for a red gun?

to charge you for everything.

They released those map packs for free because they wanted to save face. They knew there was going to be a big backlash from it. They even discussed publicly that they knew it would before the game was released.

 

I guess not all companies can do DLC properly like The Witcher 3 or even Dragon Age Inquisition.

 

No. Your DLC example doesn't work with this one.

If it was weapons and maps that you paid extra for then your example would fit but it's not.

The only way this fits with your example is if we all got served our meal and you saw the option at the bottom of the menu and asked to have your stuff served on a red plate with a blue glass.

They just went overboard on the day 1 DLC.

Right now you're missing out on a great great game at a good price.

I agree the model kind of sucks but if they want to make money like that it's better to sell skins than hold functional content behind a paywall.

The Hunting Season Passes added value to the game but I think they should have been included with the whole thing which is why it's a deal worth picking up while this sale is on.

I can respect what you are saying but I view it more like this. The things you say are already included with dlc like this. I see this as extras like a good band playing live music in another area that cost $$. Not needed for a great meal but an added
bonus. Maybe the difference between the "regular" dinning area and a more "private" area that cost extra. This kind of dlc is great if it allows all the meat of the game to be free. That is just my opinion on it.

I am not familiar with The Witcher 3's dlc but is all the actual game content free with DA: I. In DA: I can I play every single area, including dlc, free. Only purchasing new outfits and such if I want. I was thinking that DA:I had story dlc that expanded
the game. But that cost $$ so I would need to buy it to play it. I am not sure however. I just remember my oldest son saying he wanted the dlc and he is not one to buy skins and stuff.

Fallout 4 is a game I could go for a situation like cosmetic dlc. Would be awesome if all the core (main and dlc) game content was free but people could buy unnecessary skins for weapons, closes, etc. to help pay for that. Would be great instead of having
$30 to $50 in core dlc.

Halo 5 req system is one of those things too. My sons know a few people who have spent big on that. I just play the game content with no regard to the req. stuff. Even if cosmetic stuff was not unlockable that would not bother me since I am getting the
actual game content for free. So if the req. system can keep all modes, maps, and other mp stuff free that is great. And hopefully the same for campaign dlc if there is any as well.

 

LOL people have some seriously weird hangups about gaming these days. Honestly I dont really care if you buy it or not. Can you show me the source where they said that Bran, I dont recall TRS ever saying that but I may be wrong.

 

This game holds little to no interest for me...no one cares...try to justify it with cheap dlc prices but...lol...bad game...

 

Lol yeah I played the beta anyway and thought it was junk. I like trashing this game and any other with garbage dlc practices.

 

Dear OP, I will "buy" Evolve when it is a "free" Games with Gold Game.

Even then, I still wont play it but just DL it show how bad a bad Game and bad practices for DLC really are.

 

When the Hunting Passes go back up to full price and cost £40.00 on top of the game again I think it's over-pricing itself again.

I can understand anyone who didn't enjoy the game but people insisting it's a 'bad game' because they didn't personally enjoy it is silly.

The only gameplay crime this title has committed is not being another "COD clone" reskin.

It's not a game for short attention spans and it doesn't pat you on the shoulder with multiple weapon unlocks for simply showing up and firing your gun playfully in the direction of the enemy and understandably some players will resent it for that.

 

You really think those are the reasons why people didn't like it or call it a bad Game? Well okay then, good luck to you on that strawman.

 

If you think it's not then you have a very insular perspective on gaming.

Just because a game is new, requires effort and may take a few goes to wrap your head around it doesn't mean that's what everyone is out there.

Some people prefer their games to be simpler. Not having to think too hard. Some people want a COD re-skin because that's what they enjoy.

That's something I even enjoy from time to time. Something that you can just plug into and switch off.

"Evolve" isn't that type of game and some people won't like it for that very reason.
