    All these posts on here with all these "connection problems" either before or after the update seem to have a common denominator , gateways issued by their isp or gateways in general...go back a hundred pages and it's aris this or a fritzbox that or my
    isp gave me an asus router and on and on....it CAN NOT just be a coincidence that people that have their own modem and own routers (gaming friendly like netgear , Linksys) ALMOST NEVER have these problems or after getting these FIX their problems , I have
    no tech savey knowledge here as I only know what works , and the stuff isp's give out just do not play well with xbox for some reason , I don't know or really care why at this point but I have corrected this problem for many , MANY friends online and in person
    (hey , I herd you can get my xbox open so I can play online , come over and ill by the beer) my only theory here is that the xbox one just has to have a good router that does UPNP really well and the stuff your isp gives you just dosent do that , some times
    after MUCH fiddling with ports and dmz and holding triggers things will be ok for a while but the heck with that , maybe Xbox should just partner up with a router company , I don't know but this forum will blow up on Christmas morning with nat this and connection
    that and my isp gave me a gateway....

    why is it, when there is a problem with the Xbox EVERYONE keeps telling people to check this or that piece of equipment when there are dozens of people with the EXACT same problem? If that many people are having the same issue at the same time, COMMON SENSE
    says its not personal equipment or is EVERYONE using the same piece of equipment? I know I'm not sharing any and still having the same issues as dozens of others. Maybe it's Xbox itself??????????????

    these forums are garbage, because there is no real support, just people who THINK they know what they are talking about

    I agree Bimnog, the cable companies don't give out the best equipment. All they care about is what works on their environment with their service. I think if people would just get a straight cable modem to bring the signal into the house then purchase a
    good router ( I currently use a Netgear R7000 router and I have used a higher end Linksys router in the past) to distribute the signal through their network they would have fewer problems. Spending a little more money on the front end will definitely help
    to decrease the future frustrations.

    I am sure that after Christmas there will be a lot more of these issues popping up.

  5. well its become apparent to me since just today there have been several more threads with people all using isp issued gateways ( 3 threads with the same model arris I think) that the update must have added some layer of connection protocol or different port
    traffic or something (I have no idea how this stuff really works ) must be something going on that only people with descent routers are unaffected ...HAS to be upnp related somehow ...last poster said MS support was also leaning towards "out of date " modems
    and routers...

    Yep.

    ISP issued gateways and routers are terrible. Most have broken UPnP.

    When I used my ISP supplied BT home hub I had nothing but problems getting the NAT to stay open as well as regular disconnections.

    Only after binning it and buying a decent router with great UPnP support that my gaming is now mainly problem free

    Its the equipment people !!!

    It might as well be broken though. Worse UPnP I've ever seen in any router I've owned. It couldn't even recognise the demonware port mapping used by activision games on xbox one, ps3 and ps4. It caused me major problems living in a multi console household
    as I couldn't use port forwarding.

    I suppose there could have been a firmware update since I stopped using it that may have fixed the problems though but I hated the router so much there is no way I could leave it connected long enough to receive an update.

  9. certainly broken when it comes to xbox live , which is the ONLY thing that matters here , if it worked like it should , there would be no posts on how to forward ports , make static ip's , put in dmz and so on , which make up 90% of what goes on here....pnp
    stands for plug and play , and while you can plug , you cant play...

    IMO, ISP vendors should be ashamed of distributing such lousy equipment for their services. If they would spend a little more money on good equipment it would save them a lot of headaches in the long run.
