Normally XBL doesnt annoy me, but I am so frustrated right now.

I was on a second account searching for a new Gamertag, and after just about 2 hours I found the perfect fit considering my background. So I saved that one for my main account. When I went to spend my MONEY on this really cool gamertag, it threw 4 numbers
behind it and said it was taken. But not 2 minutes earlier on the second account was it taken, and when I look it up, theres no results of it existing on XBL.

I dont want these garbage numbers behind my name when I know for a FACT it isnt taken. This new gamertag system is so flawed, How do I fix this?

Um ya, you definitely misunderstood. I didn’t post the gamertag that I wanted or was searching for. I was just saying that the gamertag I wanted Was not available to me, even though when I searched for it, there was no match.

If it's giving you a suffix then its definitely in use.

Keep in mind the gamertag system doesnt see captilizations and spaces as making a gamertag unique so when changing your gamertag it would see "MyGamertag", "My Gamer Tag" and mygametag" all as the exact same gamertag.

When you are seaching manually to see if someone has a certain name or not you have to search for it EXACTLY as they have it otherwise itll say no one has that gamertag even though someone might actually have it but just with different captilizations or spacing.

For example lets say you are wanting the gamertag "MyGamertag" and you search to see if someone already has the gametag of "My Gamer Tag" itll say it doesnt already exist.

When you go to actually change your gamertag to "MyGamertag" it knows "My Gamer Tag" already exists and it will therefore put a suffix at the end of the gamertag you want.

Hopefully thats not too confusing but that's essentially how that works.

Tldr: if its giving you a suffix then someone DOES have the gamertag you want but could just have any number of combinations of changes between the captilizations and spacing.

you mean it doesn't show when you search it but when you try and change the name it says NOT available

gamertags can be used by zune gamesforwindows and xbox if it says its not available then its not available

When I search the gamertag I want it says it is not in use, but then I got to change from my current it says its reserved.

It runs relatively quietly but definitely not silent like some of you are saying. Its quiet to the point that when playing games or watching a movie you wont hear it but when on Dashboard or at night when its quiet you will hear it. Not significantly quieter
than my 360 slim.
