So it started after my Xbox live was cancelled while I was inside of a party (mic was working) and after I got my Xbox live back (3 days later) it kept saying that I didn't have a microphone plugged in even though I did actually have a microphone plugged
in. I know that the problem isn't my microphone because it works completely fine whenever I plug it into my laptop. I'm not finding anything that helps fix this on the Xbox support page so I'm hoping that someone here is able to give me a fix.

Mic says “We can’t find a microphone for these people”.

so a few weeks back I had an issue where I was getting the message “we can’t find a microphone for these people” when I had my mic plugged in. I use a Turtle beach 50x recon. It definitely isn’t the mic because it worked for my PS4 and phone. The mic wasn’t
muted either. So I replaced my controller. Now fast forward a few weeks and I’m having the same problem but sometimes the mic will work and randomly it will disconnect while plugged in and give me “We can’t find a mic for these people”. I can’t find anything
on this subject. Ive tried all controller trouble shooting errors and nothing works! HELP!

We're unable to find a microphone for these people (XBOX One Party Chat)

Hi, whenever I try and join a party on my xbox one it says "We're unable to find a microphone for these people" at the top of the party. I am using the microphone that comes with the xbox. I know that the microphone isn't broken because I am able to talk
to my friends with it via the Skype app.

If you use a headset with a 3.5 mm plug and 3 rings on the connector, know that there are two standards for those headset connectors called "OMTP" and "CTIA".

If you have 3 headsets with a OMTP setup, then the headset is "talking" to the ground pin of the controller, and the controller is "listening" for the microphone on the ground-pin of the headset.

You need to get a CTIA to OMTP adapter, which simply reverses these two contacts. You can get these adapters online or in most cellphone stores.

I know that me personally I was trying to use headphones that had chat capability but I never could get it to work correctly (like the issues you are having) until I bought a Stereo headset Adaptor. If you have not purchase one of these you might try that

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

If that doesn't work try testing with a different controller/headset.

Hello! Im sorry about the issue your experiencing. The 3.5 mm jack is supposed to be a universal outlet for multiple headsets but some headsets will work but not to the full capacity of an actual xbox one headset. Your console uses 8 different settings off
your router to make sure your able to matchmake and communicate with people. If its not your network its an actual hardware problem between the controller and the headset. Just like a phone charger the plug or the port can be compromised to the point the hardware
has to be replaced. If you have warranty on your console please contact us to see about the possibilities of

replacing the controllers you have.
