It is ridiculous that - even though I can connect to Xbox Live - an XBL issue can prevent me ...

After finally getting hit by the connection issue SNAFU many have experienced in recent days, I quit playing GTA Online and went to switch over to Broken Sword V. It's a singleplayer, offline (or so I thought), adventure game. Now bear in mind, I'm actually
connected to Xbox Live when I start the game up ...and it crashes. The error message tells me that if I have the disk, I should insert it. I don't have a disk, because I bought the game digitally. Through the Store, of course, so I feel as if "put in the disk"
shouldn't even be brought up. You'd think that sort of thing wouldn't happen, but that's a rant for another day.

I guess my issue Isn't even so much that this happened, but that it can happen at all. Seriously, why is this even possible? It's a singleplayer game (that I paid good money for) that has NO NEED for an Internet connection
to play. And before, I get the usual suggestions: Yes, I have reset my console. Yes, I have reset every aspect of my internet connection. As much as Microsoft likes to point the finger of blame at their customers, this is a 100% Microsoft issue. And a 100%
manufactured reason as well, as there's no excuse for an Xbox Live issue impacting a entirely local operation like playing a single player game with no online aspect.

Ridiculous. How can Kinect "prevent" you from playing your games? Answer: It can't. Period.

 

Service Alert Accounts

HI All,

I can connect to xbox live when I test the connection, but then get a LIVE status Accounts: Service Alert. Anyone know what this is related to and why it would prevent me from getting onto xbl? The service status page at xbox references an Accounts alert,
but it is only for people addinf credit cards or making payments, but I am paid uup through next year.. Would these prevent me from getting on xbl?

Hey there.

To play offline, you should head into the Network settings and select "Go Offline" to have the console stop looking for the servers to authenticate your games. As long as you have your console designated as your "Home Xbox", you'll be able to play your
single player games offline in this manner.

 

I'm having the same issue but it's still not working this makes me so mad I bought an xbox one because I had issues with my ps3 but now I'm having more problems with my xbox one

 

This issue is do to the service announcement they have posted. Although it doesn't say there is a problem with games that have been downloaded any game that you have is not operational at the moment. They are working on it and I hope they fix it soon because
98% of my games are downloaded. (I figured downloading was safer then having a disc I was wrong)
