Issues with Xbox Live Parties and Multiplayer

Hoping someone can assist me with this issue! These connection problems are becoming really frustrating. Let me give you guys a rundown of the situation.

Me and my friend (let's refer to him as Player A) are unable to join each other's xbox live parties or multiplayer lobbies (such as Borderlands 2). However, when a third player is involved (call him Player B), we are able to join his party and that is the only
way we (me and Player A) are able to connect. We have no issues joining any other parties or lobbies. It is only when me and Player A try to connect that these issues arise. Hope this makes sense.

I have done everything that Microsoft has suggested as well as what I've found through some google searches. I've power cycled my modem/router, reset my connection settings to default through xbox, turned on UPNP, port forwarding, you name it. I've done all
this with no success. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't do the port forwarding correct or the problems are coming from my friend's connection.

However, I'm led to believe that the issues arise from my connection due to the fact that I am the one who recently got new hardware from my ISP (Comcast). My friend has had the same hardware for awhile and we never had issues connecting until Comcast gave
me new hardware.

Currently, I have an **** TG862 gateway and a Netgear WNR2000 router hooked up to the gateway. I use the gateway simply as a modem and connect all my devices through my Netgear router. I feel like I get better performance by doing so. Anyway, last night I requested
port forwarding on my Netgear router according to the guide on the port forwarding website. There was something that didn't seem right though when I was going through the steps. I have provided a picture below to clarify the issue I came across:

In this picture, you can see that the port forwarding website is saying that my static IP should be 10.0.0.____, but when I use the Port Forward Network Utility program, it lists my static IP 172.16.0.50. I went ahead and proceeded with the port forwarding
guide and used the 172 IP as opposed to the 10.0.0. IP when opening the ports required by the 360 (I found these on a Microsoft page). Again, I hope this makes sense.

Does anyone know what else I could do to solve this issue? I can't seem to find any other solutions. Do you think the connection problems are coming from my friend? Your help is appreciated.

sorry, the only thing you can really do is just be patient. trust me, I've been dealing with same issue for GTA V and Destiny (a game that i cant even play because of network problems) the last time i spoke with tech support they told me they were currently
working on the problem and will let us know when it has been resolved. I've done everything from open ports to ethernet connection to manually connecting to the WiFi, still the problem persists.

 

There's a possibility that both of your wireless connections aren't the best. I've had this issue before, and found that resetting everything (Including my Xbox, Modem, and router) has worked. Although you've said you already tried it, I would suggest doing
it again. You may also want to check with your internet provider to see if you're getting the speeds you should be.

I am also having these problems joining any games with mates or any live party in fact

I ain't changed any hardware or anything so I think the problems MS Xbox end

I'm having the same problem. I have not changed anything. Connected until last week. Since Saturday I can not. I live in Brazil, and as is happening in other location, I believe the problem is general.

 

I'm having the same problem as well! But just recently while playing destiny... it could be coincidence but every update and maintenance cycle I think has made the problem worse. It's driving me crazy making this game unenjoyable and possibly soon unplayable.

Sorry to hear so many others are experiencing the same problem.

Me and my friend were finally able to conect last weekend, so it looked like I had found the solution. I ended up not only opening ports on my router, but also my gateway. That turned out to be a fluke though. Last night we tried to play borderlands and
we ran into the same problems. I'm all out of ideas on what to do.

I contacted microsoft last week and they were the ones who suggested I do port forwarding on my gateway as well. Other than that, the only possible solutions they were suguesting were ones I've already tried.

 

Pardon the double post.

Does anyone know if directly wiring my 360 to my gateway would change anything? Could it also be that my router is just super old and outdated? Would a new router be the quick way of fixing this issue?

 

My Xbox is wired to my router all ports opened and no connection errors at my end

Am still having random sign outs and problems connecting to live party's and joining game invites as they not arriving ether way
