    Looks like vizio released a firmware update for our televisions. Has anyone tried it yet?

    I have. At first, it appeared the issue of intermittent blanking was fixed ... but after an hour or so of playing, it blanked out again. Checking the Vizio M-series owner's thread, it appears there's a miscommunication around what this latest firmware patch
    was for: they haven't really tackled the blanking issue yet (indeed, there's still some convincing owners need to do to get Vizio to understand it's not a cabling problem!), that's for a firmware update they're promising soon.

    I just received the March update for xbox one. I noticed that they added a new allow button under the video settings. it says allow 4.2.2. I haven't had time to test it as I had to go to work. If anyone can go and check it out that would be great! I am hoping
    that this update will fix the screen blackouts that so many of us have experienced.

    There is an HDR compatibility issue between the 2016 Vizio M Series and Xbox One S. Below is a forum where this exact issue has been discussed throughly. If you turn off subsampling for HDMI 1, you can still use 4K without the "blackouts." No one is really
    sure who is to blame. However, some in the forum believe Vizio may be coming out with an update soon to fix it. Interestingly though, the P series does not have this issue, but it is a true 10-bit display where the M series is an 8-bit display.

    I have the same exact setup and the same issues. I tried the fix. I set it to 1080p and reset the console. It stopped the intermittent black screen and the white snowy screen. Unfortunately now if I go to Netflix the highest resolution offered is HD so if
    you want 4K or HDR you have to completely quit and restart the app after you change output back to 4K to make it work again. Also with my DirecTV hr44 attached it is a significant drop off in picture quality when X1 is set to 1080p as compared to 4K.

    Same issue here with the M70-d3(2016) with 2.0.13.13. I have the XBox inputting to HDMI 1. My blackouts last anywhere from 3 to 7 seconds before the video/audio finally recovers. Roughly 10% of the time, the video/audio never recovers, leaving either a black
    screen or a frozen image of the content. With the frozen image, there is some random artifacting. Turning off color sub-sampling for HDMI 1 does not resolve the issue on my set. Even if it did stop the screen blanking, it wouldn't be considered a fix as the
    Xbox would lose its capability to detect an HDR compatible device.
