Issues with Vizio M65-d0 and Xbox One S; screen turns white.

I bought the Xbox One S after my TV received the update that supports HDR10. My TV is the M65-D0(2016) and I am connecting the Xbox One S to HDMI 1(HDR).

My issue is my screen goes completely white shortly after I start playing a game,. It's happened on rock band 4, Forza horizon, fast and furious, etc. It's only an issue on my Xbox one S and I have tried the included Cable and an Amazon premium high
speed HDMI cable. I have to reboot the xbox one to use the system again.

If I turn off the HDR, the issue goes away, but that is ridiculous and needs to be fixed, but will not fix the issue if I want to watch HDR content.

Vizio M65 - DO - updated firmware with the HDR10 update

    - 4K and HDR are enabled

    It occurs everytime - 100%

It happens when I play XBox one games, etc

I'm having the exact issue with my Vizio M65-D0. All settings are correct. But picture keeps getting changed by Netflix.

    Hey toxtra!

Thanks for posting up a new thread along with those screenshots! Let's start out with these following steps:

    • From the Xbox One console's dashboard, scroll to the left to open the Xbox One guide.
    • Scroll down to 'Settings', and select 'All settings'.
    • Within the main settings menu, scroll down to 'Display & sound' and select 'Video output'.
    • Within the video output settings screen, select 'TV resolution' and set it to 1080p.
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One until the console fully powers down.
    • Boot back up and see if the issue persists.
Keep in mind that as long as 'Allow HDR' and 'Allow 4K UHD' is checked within the 'Advanced video settings', you will still see native 4K content play. The TV resolution settings will determine how content is scaled.

Give those steps a shot and let us know how it goes!

  5. I have the same exact setup and the same issues. I tried the fix. I set it to 1080p and reset the console. It stopped the intermittent black screen and the white snowy screen. Unfortunately now if I go to Netflix the highest resolution offered is HD so if
you want 4K or HDR you have to completely quit and restart the app after you change output back to 4K to make it work again. Also with my DirecTV hr44 attached it is a significant drop off in picture quality when X1 is set to 1080p as compared to 4K.

Thanks for the information, DA BAMA HAMMA! Let's run through some extra steps to ensure everything is set up properly.

    1. First, if you own the M55-D0 or M65-D0, please verify that your TV is running

      the latest Vizio firmware: 2.0.13.13
      .
    2. Within your Vizio TV's settings, please ensure that HDMI Color Subsampling is enabled for the HDMI port your Xbox One S console's are plugged into. Steps on how to do this are found on page 59 of
      Vizio's M65-D0 User Manual.
    3. On the Xbox One console's side, navigate to 'Display & sound' settings mentioned above, select 'Video output' and set the 'Color depth' to 8-bit and then restart the Xbox One S.
After the steps above have been completed, please post back with the following information if the issue continues:

    • Which HDMI port on the TV are you using?
    • Provide us with a recent screenshot of your 4K TV Details page on the Xbox One S console that acknowledges HDR is on. You can use OneDrive or any popular image hosting site to link us to that shot.
    • A general time stamp of when that screenshot was taken. (i.e. 9/8/16 9:00 AM PST).
That specific information, including the time stamp, will really help us drill into this further. Toxtra, I understand a screenshot was already shared, but uploading a new one after everything above has been covered will be great.

    Thanks!

Issues with Vizio M65-d0 and Xbox One S; screen turns white.

I have the same issue with the xbox one s and Vizio m65-d0. I returned the first Xbox on the advice of Microsoft's online chat and just set up my replacement. I tried to play the batman v superman 4K blu-ray and the same issues exist. The movie plays fine
but will intermittently go to a black screen then come back. All settings are correct and tv has been fully reset and is on current software but issues still exist. Haven't tried halo yet, but I'm sure the issues will be the same as they were on the original.

  9. I have the same issue. Mines with m55-d0. If I have the output set to 1080 it works fine with no issues. Just when the output is set to 4k is when I have the issue. It does it when i play a movie or a game. I have to switch from HDMI 2 and then back to HDMI
1 to get ot to reset.

There is an HDR compatibility issue between the 2016 Vizio M Series and Xbox One S. Below is a forum where this exact issue has been discussed throughly. If you turn off subsampling for HDMI 1, you can still use 4K without the "blackouts." No one is really
sure who is to blame. However, some in the forum believe Vizio may be coming out with an update soon to fix it. Interestingly though, the P series does not have this issue, but it is a true 10-bit display where the M series is an 8-bit display.

Turning off HDR seems to be the solve, but that defeats the point of having HDR and largely 4K. Someone needs to fix it or provide refunds.

    Hey toxtra,

We don't recommend turning HDR off, rather switching your TV resolution settings to 1080p while leaving 'Allow 4K UHD' and 'Allow HDR' checked. If you haven't already, please check my post above (which I have verified to pin it at the top) and give those
    steps a shot!

Thank you all for the continued reports, this is helping us a bunch.

  13. Issues with Vizio M65-d0 and Xbox One S; screen turns white.

    Hello,

Same issue here with the M70-d3(2016) with 2.0.13.13. I have the XBox inputting to HDMI 1. My blackouts last anywhere from 3 to 7 seconds before the video/audio finally recovers. Roughly 10% of the time, the video/audio never recovers, leaving either a black
screen or a frozen image of the content. With the frozen image, there is some random artifacting. Turning off color sub-sampling for HDMI 1 does not resolve the issue on my set. Even if it did stop the screen blanking, it wouldn't be considered a fix as the
Xbox would lose its capability to detect an HDR compatible device.

  14. Turning Color sub sampling off is the only thing that fixes this. And that's not a FIX.
