Issues with updates ... how many times will it update? Going round in cirlces

Hi - my xbox 360 says that 'to proceed I need an update' I had issues downloading this update so I put it on a USB key. Now, It says to me when I accept the update, it extracts it and seems to work and then it restarts and I get the same message again.
I thought it was maybe doing lots of different updates (???) and so I have carried on but O have done this about 15 times now ... is this right? Has anyone experienced this?

I have 1.6GB of free space on the memory unit so it's not that

So Many Issues With Updates...

I also disagree . not every update is going to be safe or work properly even if installed correctly. Their is always a chance for some small error that was placed in the update that caused a massive effect on the users system. For example, the hard drives
are no longer readable?? This isn't just a few system ( systems I mean the Xbox 360), I have already had a quit a few friends call me to see if I'm having the same problem. All be for or after this update. This was a very destructive update. It may or may
not have been intentional, but it is for sure this update. This seem like I virus. It corrupted or destriod our harddrives I know an update is not " suppose" to do that but when it happens to a good amount of users, all in a small time period, right before
or after an update. That seems very fishy.

You would think someone at Microsoft/XBOX might admit there was a problem! Just look at how many people are having problems with updates causing serious issues. And yet the sticky thread about "Issues with Updates" has not been updated!!! Thread after thread
after thread should be enough to convince SOMEONE that the issue was caused by the update.

We have been without our system now since 12/13/13. I have talked to two reps online, and two over the phone. This issue was caused by the update, but no one seems to care. If it were not for my kids, I would smash this machine and send it back to Microsoft
in pieces. The fact that your hardware tech had the gall to say it was a "pre-existing hardware condition" that was somehow "triggered by the update", and so that makes it MY problem, not theirs, really goes against every bit of support ethics I ave ever heard.

Shame on you, Microsoft, for releasing a clearly flawed and damaging update to your system right before the holidays.

Not that anyone in support actually cares, but this was my issue as reported:

 

If you have 1.6GB of free space, your system should have plenty of space to download and work with an update without the help of a USB flash drive.

I have a feeling the system cache is corrupted, and may simply need clearing. Below is a link to a help article on what you should do. Take your time and follow the steps in order. Start with "Solution 1", and just keep working your way down if it continues
to not work.
