Issues with setting up home xbox

I'm just getting into the Xbox scene so my boyfriend had me make his Xbox my home Xbox so that I can play his games and have Xbox live. Problem is, every time i don't play for a while and then log back on all his games disappear
and I don't have access to live anymore. So what I've had to do every time is go back on his account and make his Xbox my home Xbox again. This works and brings everything back but only for a day or so and it makes me do it again. I could deal with that except
each time I do that it uses up my home Xbox switches and now I can't do it anymore. I've called Xbox and each time they just reset my home xbox switches. Am I doing something wrong or is this just what happens?? This is becoming a massive inconvenience so
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Upgraded to Xbox one s but a problem

Is the old Xbox One still set up?Sometimes people will still have the old console set up as the home console in settings and this will cause issues if the S is also set up as the home console.

Just to be clear, on the console you're playing on, his account has that console as it's home console correct?

And he has not changed the console that is his account's home console after it was set to the one you play on correct?

If you don't log in for days/weeks/months at a time that won't
change the home console setting. If he changes the console that is his account's home console, that's why you loose access.

 

Thanks for the reply ! No, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have my console set as his home Xbox. Should I have him do that ? Will that have any negative effects for him ? Like if he sets my console as his home one he won't lose any games
or live, even though I don't have them on my console ? I'm sorry if this is confusing, I just don't really understand how the whole home Xbox thing works and just want to make sure he wouldn't lose anything.

 

If he sets your console as his Home, you would have access to his games/gold on your console. As long as he's signed into Live on his console, he would still have access to everything since It's all tied to his account. The only way you would lose access
is if he changes what console is set as his Home. You not playing for a while would not change that.
