Issues with my Mic

Hey all. I'm having a really weird problem with my mic. I've looked for a similar problem but can't find anyone else with the same issue. My mic is a cheap I-con 20 dollar headset that quite frankly sucks. I plan on buying a pair of turtle beaches soon.
Anyway, it has served it's purpose of me communicating for about a month, but just last night I was in a party with my friends, and I wondered why nobody was talking, then I went to the party, and could see the volume icon next to there names, so they were
indeed talking! I just couldn't hear them on my mic. It cut in for a few seconds, and they said they could hear me talking the whole time, I just couldn't hear them. Then it cut back out and that was that. I checked my security setting, checked my NAT type,
reset my router, and even tried it in game chat and I have the same problem. People can hear me but I can't hear them. I really don't know why. Is there something I'm missing? Should I just buy a new mic? Any help would be nice. Also, shouldn't a crappy $20
mic last a little more than a month? Seriously.....

Weird issue with mic

Sounds like NAT or network issues. Sometimes when two people have a certain network config you can play and chat with other people just fine, but not someone else with your same issue.

My wife and I used to have a similar issue with chat in OG Destiny. Check your NAT and make sure it is open not moderate or strict.

From what you're describing, it definitely sounds like an issue with the headset. Do you have access to another headset that you could try with your system? If so, that would be a good test to see where the issue may lie.

I have had 2 microsoft 360 mics now and in both the speaker went dead shortly after i starteduseing it, that is the last time i buy a microsoft mic. If it was a different problem than last time then it would have been me but it is the same thing. Next time
im buying a different brand mic.

 

Sorry for taking so long to reply. As it turns out, my mic is dead. Just bought a new one and all is well.
