    i've just purchased a month of gold, and I've been billed for the transaction

    I've received firstly an email confirming my purchase and billing info, minutes later I receive a message confirming my cancellation of my gold account?

    and my account remains a silver membership,

    Any tips on my next steps to figure out what just happened

    Hi there,

    can you provide a little more information?

    Is it saying it on the Xbox 360 console that you don't have gold?

    What things have you tried so far?

    For example have you tried clearing the console cache, via the steps mentioned here:

    support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache


    Be sure to restart the console afterwards.

  5. Never heard of clearing system cache to be a form of solutionfor this issue before, reminds me of what Agents say to me when I've been for help, never did get a resolution really to anything technical related. Had to determine problems myself with a logical
    fix myself

    Although I have used the method of re-downloading my profile, but I have heard that testing the Xbox LIVE connection may work. What seemed to work for me was re-downloading my profile. I checked if it noticied me as a gold member initially by just trying
    to start a Party Chat on the Xbox 360, after renewing my gold. So I went ahead and re-downloaded my profile, and tried the Party Chat again, and it worked.

    I have noticed yesterday that some profiles I looked at on the Xbox 360 were showinng Silver not Gold, when I knew for a fact they actually were Gold. Simply because You cannot play ranked playlists in Halo 3 on any Trials. That may not have any part in
    this, so best to rule this opinion out. As when I checked on my own profile I was Gold, and if I checked my account from a different account it showed me being Silver.

    Other reasons why it could still be displaying Silver is delays on the server. May sound too far fetched, but at one stage I switched Gamertags around, using a method I posted recently in another post.And everytime someone tried adding me through my switched
    gamertag (and it was showing it was switched) it would still add other Gamertag. It took a few days to correct itself on the system.

    If you have tried absolutley everything, which includes everything a community member would give to you in advice. The best thing you could do is contact Customer Support. For more in-depth trouble shooting and a possible investigation as to what the root
    cause could be for a resolution.

    If you are able to join Party Chats as i said previously and it will let you start one or join one, the system knows you are a gold member, you can also check another way also (but not sure if it's been changed) trying to send a message through the Xbox.com
    website, last I saw it required Xbox LIVE Gold to send messages. And if you can still access all the benefits of an Xbox LIVE Gold member then it may just be something on the servers that need to correct itself.

    Still you can never be to sure, so if it doesn't the best thing to do would be to contact support as I said above at:
    support.xbox.com/contact-us

    Hi, It's the ambassador site that's saying i don't have gold, and has locked me out of the ambassabank and forums even though my profile subscriptions says

    Xbox Live Gold

    1 Month Xbox Live Gold

    Renews On: 11/22/2014

    as i put a couple months on. Not sure if it'll fix itself. I did contact Microsoft about this issue but they said to post here cause they didn't know themselves what was wrong.

    Microsoft did not "rob" you. If the retailer failed to activate your purchase, then that is on the retailer, not Microsoft.

    Hopefully you still have your receipt and can sort the issue out with the retailer.

    Should you take it back to the retailer to inform them the card wasn't activated when your purchased it and have it activated, please remember to bring the receipt for the purchase with you. Most stores may or may not have a policy about needing the receipt
    to activate gift cards that weren't... in some cases not bringing it if may warrant some strange looks from management and staff. Its happened to me before, don't forget the receipt! If you threw it away, you should go look for it.
