Issues with gamertag merging

Back story: I had an old Xbox live account from 360 when I used to have one. I forgot about that information when I got my Xbox one so I created a new one (which has a different gamer tag and all of my Xbox live subscriptions). I just got my old Xbox
360 account transferred to use on Xbox one but I am unable to migrate that gamer tag to the new account/email that I have (the old account was associated with an email I still have but don't use). I am trying to get my old gamertag moved from under the old
email to my new email/account.

For the life of me I do not know where I am supposed to log in as I can never find the associated links detailed under "Change the Microsoft Account that is associated with your Xbox Live gamertag".

Can someone provide me with the correct login page that when successfully logged into I can follow the steps appropriately.

You supposed to log in into your Xbox 360 in Step 1. The following steps are all done on the 360, too.

BUT: Important for you is the fact, that only one(!) gamertag can be associated with one(!) live account. So there is no possibility to merge two gamertags into one live account!

If you say you don't need your new gamertag and only want to use the old one with your new live account, then you need to remove the new gamertag before. How to do this is described in the second section of the How-to. (Resolve the error "The Microsoft account
you're switching to is already linked to another Xbox account")

BUT please be aware that your subscriptions are bounded to the respective gamertag! So if you remove your new gamertag you also remove your subscriptions!

Hopefully this clarifies your issue.

 

I just wanted to add that if the Gold subscription was only added to the one account recently you could try contacting phone support. If you explained the situation to them they MAY remove the Gold membership from the one account and send you a code to
add it to the other.

This does not happen often and there is a time limit on the ability to do it (I believe only a week or so) but it's worth a shot.
