    Issues with family sharing

so the whole family sharing is great and all. Awesome addition. Not having to buy gold or every game twice is a huge help on the consumer side.

Problem is it's setup to only work on ONE Xbox.. very few games are splitscreen anymore and personally I don't like having to share my TV with anyone haha. It's just aggravating. So I have two xbox ones and I play on one, my brother plays on the other. We
are both in the same house and use the same WiFi. I usually buy the games so I set his Xbox as my home xbox and sign in on my Xbox. So technically he should be able to play my games going by what the discription of the "my home xbox" but alas Microsoft hasn't
let us have full control over this feature.. it's not like it's out of reach either. I mean with the smartglass app you can see all the Xbox consoles on your WiFi so they can already see each other through the Wi-Fi.

I think it should be changed so that all Xbox consoles on the same WiFi can play the games that the gold member bought. That is true family sharing.

    :)

    Hello,

From the behaviour you describe, it sounds like your Home Xbox is his console, but his Home Xbox is also his console. I don't know if he's used the wrong account when changing the Home Xbox setting (signed in as himself, or maybe even signed into both accounts)
when he set his console as your Home Xbox, but it sounds like both profiles have the same Home Xbox designation.

This would explain why his console is able to play your games (it's your Home Xbox) but you need his profile signed into Live in order to play his games (it's not his Home Xbox).

I hope this clarifies things. It shouldn't be hard to correct if he uses his profile on your console to set yours as the Home Xbox (or, if you wish, you could even switch the consoles between yourselves). However, depending on how many times you've done
this already you may run into the three-times-per-calendar-year limit, though Phone Support will sometimes be able to reset this for you, at their discretion:

Let us know how you get on.

I'm so confused about this. No idea what is going on.

Added my bro in law account to my xbox, and vice versa. Set the opposite account as the "Home". For some reason, He can see all my games and play them. I cannot see his. If I log back into his account, I can see his games, download and play on his account.
Soon as I switch back to mine. They stop working.

We have tried removing accounts and reverting back to normal. Games don't work. Even did a memory reset to erase all account info and added the other persons first, That kind of worked. I could see all of his games, download and play. But as soon as
he updated his xbox with my account as home it stopped working.

If I log in and out as him, I can see his games on my account, but as soon as he logs back in, I lose the ability.

Again, we have verfied hundreds of times that our account is set as home on the opposite xbox and verified that the other persons is set as the home on our xbox.

What in the world is going on.....so annoying.

    Family Share Issue?!?

It's an issue with the new store on the preview program.

    Family Share Issue?!?

Yes i am, I've done further research and discovered that because I got the newest Dashboard update last night that it doesn't work with him, he's in the preview program too, so maybe we just have to wait till he gets it.

But I'm also confused as to why it's not showing up on xbox.com that I've "Already Purchased" it, I know my Credit Card was charged for it.

Yep. I have both my daughters using my old Xbox One X (which is setup as my home console) while I play on my Series X. Works a treat.

    1) If you have the console set as your Home and/or your account is signed in on the console at the same time as her, she can access your games. Since she is not subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate, she would not have access to Xcloud as that is only for subscribers.

    2) Make sure your account is signed out on the console when you're done using it. It shouldn't signed her out of Fortnite as long as she is definitely using her own profile.

Yes, as long as you leave the One X as your Home console. That's what allows her to access your library/subscriptions.
