Issues with external storage on XBOX ONE S

    Hi !

I'm having issues on my XBOX ONE S with my external storage. When I try to start a game, it takes ages and then crashes with an error message saying that it took too long. I'm having the issue with all my games, even those on my internal storage. When I
unplug my external storage, everything is working again... I wonder if anyone had the same issue. I don't really want to buy a new hard drive so if you have any solution for me... Would formatting be a nice idea ? I'll lose all my games and take days to download
those again but that's fine for me.

Thanks for reading Issues with external storage on XBOX ONE S :D

    Kind regards,

    Nourz

    :)

copying xbox one data on external drive to xbox one S external drive

    Hey there gmhowe.

You'll need to move your games over onto an external storage device one by one. Check out the steps on

    this page
for info on how to set up external storage. Once it's all moved you should be able to access it on your Xbox One S no problem.

transfer from 1 external hdd to another

I have a Xbox One S with an external Seagate 2tb External HDD used for storage. I recently picked up a 4tb seagate external HDD. I would like to transfer all the data and saved games to the 4tb HDD i just go and use that as storage instead. I am looking
for directions on how to do so.

Thats very odd that the external storage is affecting the games installed internally. It sounds like at this point the external is unusable so theres little downside to reformatting the drive besides having to redownload (as you have said). You could perform
a factory reset of the console, choosing to keep all of your installed data
    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults
but to me it sounds like the drive is toast.

    Hey Nourz,

I had the same issue not too long ago. Turns out, I had some sort of corrupted file in my 2Tb external. If that's the case for you, then go ahead and format it. You will lose everything on it, but as you said you will be able to download everything again.

Buying game for XS but then it’s not after installing it

Ok did you put it in an internal memory or storage card or external usb drive

If external that would be why

You can only put it in an internal memory or storage card

Now I'd you are saying you have a Xbox one S

    That isn't a series s

Series consoles.are different and are not considered Xbox one nor is it part of the name

Also any games.that are meant for the series consoles has to be on storage card or.internal memory

Xbox one games works regardless of Xbox one s or og or one x

And you can use any storage

But for Xbox series consoles there is only s or x not one s/x

And only games on optimized nvme or the Xbox nvme storage card will download the series version

If you put it on external it would only download the Xbox one as you arent running thr optimized nvme
