Issues with Cortana

I just updated my console last night and have had a miserable experience with cortana. Really would have been helpful having a tutorial pane on how to use it. The performance is also drastically slower going from instantaneous to having to wait 5 seconds
for acknowledgement. I could actually live with having to say 'hey cortana' instead of 'xbox' however functionality previously in xbox has been lost in addition to experiencing bugs.

A couple of examples of bugs and lack of functionality are that I used cortana to perform a task, ie go to netflix. It did but the snap stayed up, I said hey cortana, 'unsnap'. It removed the content but kept a black pane up. I have turned off my console
and restarted it but the black pane snap remains. In addition I lost the ability to pause shows. This roll out with cortana and lack of polish around it is completely unacceptable. When can we expect an ensuing update to come out to apply features xbox one
kinect users have become accustomed to for the last couple of years?

Achievements not poping up

Try turning Cortana off. Seriously. I had issues with achievements until I turned off Cortana.

 

Why doesn't Cortana respond when I speak into my mic?

Please see instructions below

1. Cortana is only available in the US and UK at the moment.

2. Cortana is only available to consoles running the latest software. If my games and apps is in the top right of the homescreen then you are probably running the latest version of Xbox software.

3. From the guide on the left Select Settings/All settings/System/Cortana settings and check the little Cortana slider is set to on.

4. The correct voice command to use for Cortana is "Hey Cortana"

Cortana is far from perfect I agree but it is a preview after all so bugs and glitches are expected.

 

to all that are having a problem with the latest preview release and EA games not working anymore, the fix is real simple. go to settings system update and press LB,RB,LT,RT at the same time to bring up dev mode. click on reset home console and restart you
xbox. now boot up an EA title back out to the dashboard press the menu button to quit the game and then make your xbox your home console again and VOILA. I take claim for this workaround.

 

Hey there ReepinKilla2 it's recommended that players who aren't familiar with development shouldn't go into those settings it is possible that it can mess some stuff up with the console rendering it useless until repairs are done to it.

 

Just a follow up to this. I had to hit the 3 line list button on the controller to remove the black snapped pane. As for the cortana playback issues, I logged into my xbox the day after reporting the issue and was able to pause and thus far perform every
action I used to be able to. Thanks Xbox for the prompt response.
