Issues with connecting to Xbox Live (not network related)

I've run a test of my network and everything checks out, but I am really struggling finding a fix to this and hoping someone can help out. Please note I've done multiple restarts, including a cold restart.

The forum isn't allowing me to upload a picture, but the only option the top toolbar gives me is 'Home. I can scroll through games and apps, but it doesn't let me connect to any of them via Xbox Live. There's a rectangular box next to the mini image of
the game/app that says 'Connect to Xbox Live' ... Unfortunately, I cannot click into it.

Sorry this is vague, but I would appreciate any help!

Connection Error - A system update is required to sign into Xbox Live...

Has anyone found a solution to this? I am getting connection issues with connecting to Xbox live or anything game related online through IPCop firewall...

first , just try and sign out of your profile , then right back in......if its still not working , try this below......

go into settings and accounts and remove all the profiles , (make sure you have the email and password to get them back ) after you remove the profiles , shut the xbox down by holding the xbox logo on the console for 8 seconds till it powers down , while
it is off , unplug your modem and router for 30 seconds to clear them also , plug the modem and router back up and when they are online , turn the xbox back on , when it is all the way up , re add your main profile ...it may sit there and sync a little while
but all SHOULD be good afterwards ...

Signing out of my username and signing back in did not work the first or second time, but third time was a charm... I suppose! Thanks for the assistance.

That Issue may be relating to a firewall blocking the communication to XBL.
