    Issues with 4K HDR


    I have an Xbox One X hooked up to my 4K HDR television. It's a TCL. My issue is fairly simple. When I play HDR supported games, my Xbox does NOT trigger the TV's HDR game mode. The settings also state my TV doesn't support HDR10 (which is incorrect,
    because it does). This is the normal condition after resetting my console.

    However, my Xbox will activate my TV's HDR game mode after watching a Blu-ray or UHD movie. Further, the settings will correctly state that my TV supports HDR10. When I play games after watching a movie, it will activate game mode and my display is in
    4K HDR. It will remain this way until I reset my console, requiring me to put in a movie to get the Xbox to trigger 4K HDR gaming mode.

    Hello Boiddude,

    Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. You can try the
    4K troubleshooter    . The 4K settings are automatically detected on the Xbox console. There may be a setting to allow 4k in the TV settings somewhere, or the 4K is not HDR 10. Which there is a list of names for HDR 10 in the troubleshooter. If it is not HDR
    10 then some aspects wont work correctly as the other is not compatible with the Xbox.

    Sounds like an issue with HDR. Are you playing on a 4k screen? If so, can you change the colour settings? Like, to 'HDR Game' or 'HDR Vivid'?
