    Issues with 4k content - DirecTV


    Hello,

    I recently upgraded to the xbox one S. The idea was to have 4k TV and xbox capabilities. All my devices support HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2. The devices are chained together as follows:

    DirecTV 4k Client C61k-700 -->IN --> XBOX ONE S --> OUT TO DENON AVR S720W -->OUT TO VIZIO P-Series 4k TV.

    Everything works well, all my displayed content is upscaled to 4k either when watching HD TV or at the XBOX environment.

    However, when I switch to a DirecTV 4k channel. I get the following error message:

    "Your TV doesn't support 4k content. You are watching it in 1080p"

    I did some troubleshooting to isolate which device in the chain causes this problem:

    C61k - xbox - TV direct connection, 4k setting, error persists

    C61k - xbox - TV direct connection, 1080p setting, error persists

    C61k - Denon - TV direct connection, no error displayed

    C61k -TV direct connection, no error displayed

    It seems that the xbox is causing the DirecTV client to think that there is not a 4k capable TV attached in the chain. Removing the xbox makes the error go away.

    Can you help further with this? If anything, this might be valuable feedback for engineering to allow them to investigate and fix this issue in the future.

    Does OneGuide app support 4k?

    The Xbox One S doesn't support 4k pass thru. If you want to watch 4k content with your DirecTV 4k receiver you can't go thru the Xbox One S. Pretty disappointing if you ask me...

    DIRECTV has started broadcasting 4K content. For example the Rio Olympics is broadcast on a channel and there are a few others...I have the new Genie HR54 reciever with two 4K mini clients.

    I am having the exact same problem with my C61K-700. In the advanced video input settings and "4K Details" my Xbox One X states that my TV supports 4K content (all the parameters pass as indicated with green checks). I bypassed the Xbox One X and connected
    my C61K-700 directly to my 4K TV and it does show up the 4K content. When connected to the XBox One X even though it passes all the checks in identifying my TV as being a compatible 4K TV, when going the the video input and resolutions setting within my C61K-700,
    the 4K option is grayed out and states your TV doesn't support 4K content. When bypassing the XBox One X, the 4K resolution isn't grayed out and I'm able to successfully check the 4K resolution and DirecTV channel 104 does display content in 4K and doesn't
    downgrade my resolution to 1080p as it does when connected to the XBox One X. I have yet to get a solution from XBox Support in resolving this issue.

    I've tried my C61k (DirecTV 4k Mini), Amazon 4k Fire TV and TiVo Bolt through the Xbox One S. 4k isn't passing through for any of them.
