Issues Reading discs error code (0x21): Your disc might be dirty or damaged.

My console is being replaced for faulty disc drive. I am convinced they got a bad batch of disc drives.

This worked for me. Only one disc (out of two) was having this problem, COD: Ghosts. Would not re-install after an uninstall and reboot. Kept telling me the brand new disc was dirty or damaged, even though I played it before. So I performed the steps above
and it re-installed fine.

I had a similar problem with madden.. I ended up exchanging disc thinking it was the disc. I get an error code 0x80820002 we cannot play disc, try an xbox one game, a music cd or a movie on blu-ray or DVD. I ended up doing a factor reset after trying
a complete shut down.. Reloaded all discs which seemed to work for a period of time. Now instead of madden 25 not working and receiving above code, now it is nba 2k14! I have cleared the persistent storage mutinies times with no success.. Other games seem
to load.. It just selects 1 particular game not to load. I really don't want to factory reset system again.. I noticed this after titanfall came out. Microsoft insisted there is not an issue with the march update. How can we all be having similar issues
with games after an update but it "isn't the update causing the problem"?

 

Kept telling myself to get a ps4 after going through 3 xbox 360's. Unfortunately I chose the xbox one and I feel like someone robbed me of $500. Disc read errors left and right, having to congigure my modem to connect to certain games online, blu ray disc's
won't read, and every time I call customer support there is a twenty minute wait. I can only assume that everyone is having the same issues as me. Why can't you buy a system from Microsoft that doesn't fail?

 

I am having this same issue, I've only recently noticed. I don't notice it if its a particular game, but has been occurring frequently recently. I've mainly noticed it does the error code 0x80820002, when ejecting from one game while running and putting
another in. I contacted MS support and all they suggested was to clear persistent storage. The issues does not occur all the time but has been frequent this past week. I do not want to send my xbox in unless its necessary but I'm just torn on what to do, do
y'all think this is a software issue or a hardware issue developing? Any suggestion would be helpful thanks.

 

I ran into this problem with the error code (0x80820002) as well. I hard reset 5 different times with no success. It would play audio and blu-ray, but not one of the 3 brand new xbox one games I tried. I did a system restore and that didn't work until I
did another hard reset. This is horrible. I guess I can't play audio cds without running into problems. Wish I could play the music off of my ipod or external hard drive like you can with 360.

 

MrMoros, I ran into the exactly same problem. my xbox one is brand new, i have just bought it, never played it once. then, when I put my brand new titan fall or call of duty ghosts, it shows up the error code 0x80820002. I have reseted twice already and
no success. I have no idea of what to do... any suggestions?

For those experiencing the 0x80820002 error: It sounds like you've all tried power cycling. Let's take that a step further and remove the console from power altogether. Shut it down as if to power cycle (hold the button for 5-10 seconds). Let it completely
turn off, then unplug the power supply for 30 seconds to a minute.

Are any of you three (Powerlift, Moros, Otavio) in the Preview program?

Tonight I have turned on my XBOX ONE and COD GHOSTS wouldn't load so I was advised to uninstall and reinstall, surprise surprise as is everything with this console since I had it, I keep getting installation stopped your disc may be dirty or damaged, the
disc is fine!

So what do I do now!

 

G'day COPPER! Please try the steps provided above. If you've already done the power cycle and unplugging the unit, can you please let us know what else you've tried so far? I don't want to ask you to repeat any steps if it isn't necessary.

 

Yea even a hard reset doesn't fix the problem and I know it's not the disk drive because eventually it will read but I am so tired of putting the disk in then taking it out cleaning it. Reseting the xbox putting in the disk taking it out putting it back
in doing a hard reset. Hoping it works taking the disk out and putting it back in. It takes me 8 tries for fifa to work and 6 for Titan fall

 

Wtf MS?!?! Why can't I play my games anymore??? And why does this code: 0x80820002 not come up when I type it into your code index? I would like an explanation please!!

 

So this is the first time I have ever posted in a forum...and I'm doing this now for good reason. I am really ****ed off....to a level I didn't know was even possible. Since coughing up a hefty sum for the one and a number of games I have my kinect replaced
and am now on my third console. This third console is now having the disc error described by others on this thread.

The only tip on here that helps is to hold the disc half way in for a second then release. Though this allows it to read every time sometimes the console also makes a grinding noise. I cannot quite believe how awful this launch has been. Not only was E3
2013 a major flop you have issued a large number of units with dodgy parts. On top of that it seems your replacements are repaired units as I have had three and they are all faulty!!! Are they even tested before they are shipped back out??

To anyone reading this if your xbox is playing up don't accept any temporary fixes. If you pay £500+ for a console you shouldn't have to reset it every time you want a new game on, that is a joke. Send your unit back and make sure to kick up a fuss!

 

I have the same problem (code: 0x80820002 error). And i tried all things described in this forum. But just temporary solutions. Doesn't exist a permanent solution yet? This problem is about 2 or 3 months and the Microsoft not solved yet?!!?!
