Issues playing a game (Specifically "Fallout 4") because of a popup "Check your account"

This may mean that the system is having trouble recognizing your license for the game.

First, let’s validate your license by checking your order history. Kindly sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and then find your order for Fallout 4 (PC). Once confirmed that it’s visible as “completed” proceed with signing out both on your Xbox App and Microsoft Store App and them restart your PC before signing back in.

I thank you for the quick reply but after confirming that my order is on the site and has been completed, I signed out of both Xbox and Microsoft and restarted my computer. Unfortunately It is still giving me the same message. It does in both Xbox and the Microsoft Store say that I own the game too. So I am at a loss for what is going on. I did try it on another desktop (Windows 10 Pro) (Logged into the same account) and it seemed to work fine but I would like to get it on my laptop.

For issues with the download/install problem with Fallout 4 it sounds like there is something corrupt the drive or external storage (if you own an external drive). I'm not sure what that issue is as though. If other games install, but Fallout 4 won't either from disc or download, it won't be a hard drive issue. Do other games install okay?

Regardless of how you install a game, disc or digital the console always checks first if you have a digital license for the game. If this isn't found (it takes seconds) it will look for a disc. Digital downloads aren't locked to a specific account. You only need to own the game either digitally tied to your account or on disc.

So, if you have access to an external drive, you could take this to your friends console and either copy or download Fallout 4 to an external drive. Then insert this drive into your Xbox and use your disc to launch the game. This should work.

If you're having issues installing other games you may need to perform a console reset.

I regret informing you, but the answer is yes. It's required for you to re-purchase the game on PC because Fallout 4, and its DLCs are not compatible with the Xbox Play Anywhere feature.
