Issues between Xbox and PC Microsoft account with owned game

Hi,

I bought Forza Horizon 4 (physical copy) in 2018 for my Xbox. I played it for a while until I decided to switch to a PC in 2020. I was able to install Forza through the Microsoft stored as it said "owned" onto my PC and play like normal. Recently, I was on my PC and tried to play the game again, however, was hit with an error message saying that I did not own the game and that I would have to either buy it or play it with the Game Pass.

I bought the full game for the full price and not using the Game Pass so am confused as to why this has happened. When I went onto the Microsoft store, it said that I had the game installed, but I did not own it.

I chatted with Microsoft support bots, which said to uninstall and reinstall the game, however, once the game was uninstalled, it said I could not reinstall it as I did not own it.

Does anyone know how I can reinstall the game back onto my PC? As I spent £85 on the ultimate addition of the game when it came out and don't want to buy the game again.

(I can still play the game on my Xbox like normal, so I still own the game)

No idea as it shouldn't have let you without either Game Pass or owning it digitally.

Hi,

I am an independent advisor, I was also facing same issue when i have updated my OS-windows, It took whole day to update it.

But after updation some of my driver services stop working as my browsers were crashing continuously, my drivers asking for updates, my printer spooling service got stopped.

I have also faced problem with registry files errors in PC.

The system registry files are very important; once a file is missing or damaged errors will occur.

I fixed my registry files using some of the suggestions given in community, by going several folder as "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM : \system32\config\system".

But still my problem was not resolved to I went to Microsoft support page as on https://support.microsoft.com/contact us. then I found support team number, I call support number and they found the real cause of the issue and fixed my problem completely.

You can also check registry error if any try to resolve yourself or call them to get it fixed.

May I ask why I was able to play it on my PC without the Game Pass to begin with?

You would either need to purchase it digitally or get Game Pass.

Horizon 4 is a Play Anywhere title, meaning you can buy it and play it on both the console and PC, ,but that only applies to digital purchase. As you purchased it on disc, you only have the license to play on the console.
