Issue With Xbox One Video Output on HDMI (After using DVI)

    Hello,

I have an issue with my video output on my Xbox One,

I used to use it with an HDMI cable with an HDMI-DVI adapter to use it on my Monitor, it always worked fine and on 1080p

When I got back to using the HDMI cable directly on a TV, my console is not able to go above 720p (it can't reach 1080p or 4k)

I've tried multiple cables (that I know that they work), on multiple TVs and tried multiple video settings (Auto detection, HDMI, DVI), tried the display reset (Display works fine from 640x480 to 720p but not above), the factory reset but nothing helped.

The HDMI port doesn't seem to be physically damaged, or else it wouldn't work neither on the TV (720p) nor the monitor (1080p)

    Thanks in advance,

    Best regards

    :)

    Sound cut out

Check your TV and HDMI connections

Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

    Select Settings.

    Select All Settings.

    Select Display & sound.

    Select Video output.

    Select TV connection.

If TV connection is set to "DVI", you'll need an optical audio cable for sound. If you're using an HDMI cable, switch your TV connection to "Auto-detect".

Note If your screen goes dark after you select HDMI or DVI and the screen doesn't reset after 30 seconds, see Troubleshooting a blank TV or monitor while your Xbox One is on.

Back out of Video output by pressing B .

    Select Audio output.

Verify that HDMI audio is not set to “Off” (or dimmed).

S/Pdif to RCA Audio Adapter for Xbox One

Xbox One has 2 outputs - one HDMI and one Optical Audio (s/pdif). HDMI carries both audio and video. But if you want to send your audio to a receiver that does not have HDMI inputs, then you can use the optical output from Xbox One. PS4 is exactly the
    same.

And William is right - if you try converting HDMI to DVI, you will lose the audio on both Xbox and PS4 (unless you are using the separate optical output for audio).

    PCM audio over HDMI

    Yes I understand that.

I think that there is more to it, I should have mentioned before. The setup is this. I'm connecting the Xbox to a cinema projector that only has a DVI connection not a HDMI connection. I'm also going through a box to extract the audio from the HDMI signal
to send it to the amps.

I'm going HDMI from the Xbox to the audio stripper box which then passes the PCM audio to the sound amps and outputs the video through HDMI which I have going into the projector using a HDMI to DVI cable.

The Xbox is displaying it's outputting DVI in the settings not HDMI. Is there a way to 'trick' the Xbox at all? I'm guessing there isn't. Also as it's stating it's outputting DVI I'm assuming it's not sending the audio too, which is why I'm not getting any
    audio.
