    Issue with Xbox One re-downloading the game when update is available


    I recently noticed that when my Xbox One games need to run an update, it appears that the whole game is re-downloaded again from the Xbox Store. Now this has happened to both games that I have purchased from the store, most recently Far Cry 4, Halo: MCC,
    Destiny, Titanfall. As well as disc like Dragon Age: Inquisition. I noticed this with Dragon Age: Inquisition that when running the latest update, took almost a day and the download was around 40 Gb after the update was applied. I noticed the same with
    Far Cry 4. Now I don't believe the update for either game is 40 Gb or more.

    To give you an idea of my setup, I have all the current updates on the Xbox One, an external 2 Tb Western Digital HD where my games are installed on. I have already filled the 500 Gb HD the Xbox One has.

    If anyone can shed some light on why this is happening, it would be greatly appreciated because waiting over a day for an update to run and eating up my bandwidth doing so, just to play a game is kind of a pain.

    I have exactly the same issue Issue with Xbox One re-downloading the game when update is available :(

    Tried Clearing the Cache three times AND re-downloading it from Marketplace instead of Games with Gold menu. I even removed the latest Xbox system update, re-updated it and re-downloaded the game. Still same issue.

    How to manually view 4K game updates?

    Hey there fishLike.

    There currently isn't an option for that I'm afraid. Is there a particular reason you want to download 4K games to your Xbox One S?

    As I explained in my initial post, I want to download them in preparation for when I receive my Xbox One X. Then I can use the option to transfer the data from my One S to the One X.

    When will the option become available? It makes no sense that you shouldn't be able to review the 4K updates like you do for normal updates. Is this going to be an issue when I receive the One X as well?
    At a guess I'd suggest that you'll be able to review each 4K update when the Scorpio is released.

    Essentially I think Microsoft have provided the option to download 4K updates for games prior to the console release as they become available. This would be an automated Push (when available they will be downloaded) from the Xbox servers, rather than a Get

    Why is this MW2 update moving so slow??

    not sure why their is an update size change, probably depends if people are playing on xbox one or series and what res they are using as it may download and update texture packs, also if there is an issue with the update then as xbox does not verify files it just downloads the entire game again.

    Guess I will just have to switch on the automated option at the end of this month before my data cap refreshes and hope that the updates come through.
