Issue with Microsoft Store not exchanging my broken controller.

So I recently went into the Microsoft Store with an Elite controller purchased there due to stick drift occuring on my left analog stick. The person helping me had me plug my controller in and prove to him there was stick drift. After the left stick drifted
he then informed me that he unfortunately wouldnt be able to exchange my controller and instead I had to send it in to be fixed because there were none available. This wasnt true because there was plenty of Elite controllers on the shelves. I was also still
under warranty because my controller was less than 3 months old, which he saw on the receipt. Is this common practice or did I just get the run around? Should I go to another Microsoft Store?

Your warranty states it needs to be returned to Microsoft service center for repair or replacement.

This is an issue at Microsoft's end - none of my downloaded purchases are working and the store is broken.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your controller.

From what you're describing it sounds like your controller might be broken. I would recommend returning the controller to the retailer you purchased from and see about an exchange.
