Issue with mic input in controller?

I've tried a few different mics and have come to the conclusion that it's my controller that's the problem. This controller isn't even 2-3 years old though.

So my mic crackles if I touch the jack too hard while playing or if I move it too much, and I sometimes have to unplug it then replug it. Sometimes it's just static and no one can hear me, and some days it just doesn't work. It's particularly not been working well on cross-platform games specifically, which I think is odd. I have made sure it's updated, cleaned my input on the mic, restarted my console, restarted my game, unplugged it, and plugged it back in, and although sometimes it fixes itself it's still an ongoing problem.

Any advice or idea as to what might be going on?

Are you using a Headset adapter on the controller?

Try connecting an adapter to the controller. It will bypass a faulty 3.5mm socket and it's a lot cheaper than buying a new controller.

Also run the steps in Update xbox wireless controller with the adapter connected to the controller. All controllers you use need to run the firmware update.

The uSB method is my preference.

I've been considering this, and though I think it would be cheap I don't have much money to spare atm, but I am thinking about it.

It could be the defective 3.5mm output. I would take the controller to some store that repairs electronics in your city to have a look, I believe it shouldn't be something difficult to fix.

There have been several issues with the game Control lately. I have been on responder talking to people about this lately. As for your headsets it could be that the wire to the mic got frayed or could be a problem with your mic input.
