    issue with game sharing and xbox live gold


    My sons have been game sharing with eachother for the past few years.

    Recently when one of them tried to buy a game from the xbox store it prompted him to purchase xbox live gold as it was available at a discount

    I also noticed that it was telling him to sign up for game pass when it had previously been working fine.

    He is able to play games online still and I can see a game that was installed on his brothers console is waiting for installing on his so it appears the game sharing is still working.

    Any reason the gold status and game pass issue would be happening now?

    Hello Crazy,

    Sorry for the issue with home console sharing. doesn't sound like it was set up correctly. If done right all games should be available. As stated if you are sharing your account information it is against the ToS. You can check the guide out for

    Xbox live gold sharing features.

    Hey MsTheGamer290! To share Xbox Live Gold you will want the master account to set the family's Xbox console as their Home Console. This will allow all users that play on that Xbox to utilize Xbox Live Gold features and games owned by the master account.

    I recommend taking a look at the following article:

    Xbox 1 ( Gold subscriber) - Make sure it is not set to home Xbox

    Xbox 2 - Gold subscriber account needs to be the home Xbox to initiate the sharing.

    Try this out and let us know the results.
