Issue with Forza Horizon 5 crashing out when loading game

I got my xbox series X on the 27th August 2022. I downloaded (from game pass) and installed games I already had on my xbox one (from 2014). Everything seemed great. However Forza horizon 5 would load, then when in the main menu screen where you press A to continue, the loading screens would come up, and then freeze. The Xbox would either shut off or go back to the xbox menu. I tried a few things, like I had it plugged into my TV, so tried a different output and things like the game res. No joy.

I looked on line and it said I should probably contact the game developer, so I did that on the 29th August 2022. After trying lots of different things, things, like deleting, re installing the game, trying to install it to different parts of the hard drive, removing the game save from the console, making sure the xbox OS was up to date, and the game it still wouldn’t work.

When forza support came back to me, they said this is a known problem and are working on a fix, however they didn’t know when this would be and said they would close the ticket. Ok, I thought, bit miffed, but understand.

By the way, the game still played fine on my old xbox one, and still does

I then decided this week to contact forza to see whats going on, as there has been updates and I tried things like safe mode again for the xbox, and deleting etc and the game still had the same issue. They came back with the same things to try again, and I mentioned that they had said before it was a software issue. They even got me to film the issue, and I sent them a copy

I did get the game to work when I deleted it and played it via “cloud Gaming”. The game worked on that. I then reinstalled it and then had the same issue.

Forza support then came back to me, and said, sorry they had got my information mixed up with other players having a similar issue. They said they had gone through all steps they could with me, and now I need to contact Microsoft support

Im now a bit concerned that my xbox has had a fault since day 1 of owning it, and now either stuck with that, or having to send this off for repair?!?

Thanks for this. I have tried it on Wifi ( normally go hard wired anyway) and on a different TV. Doubt it would be that, but worth a try. The cloud version seems to work fine. Just worried that it is now a hardware issue, ive had since owning the xbox. Was on a call to Xbox support and put on hold, and then got cut off. Have dialed back and, its just silent.

Will have to see about logging into an other xbox series X to see if it does it there, but then worried that xbox then cant play the game

You seem to have tried everything...I assume you have done a hard reset of the console (you didn't list it above but you may have mentioned it in the video and I missed it).

My only suggestion would have been to create a second account and try it with that but you said you tried a different gamertag in your video.

Only other thing I can think of is, if you know someone else with a Series X who is willing, sign in to their console with your account and try to play it..just to confirm there's nothing on your account doing this (although you have used an alt account, you never know)

The problem you have is the game in question...ever since Forza Horizon 5 released, it has been a problem child. I have owned it since the pre-release period and it is by far the most problematic game I play (considering problems faced such as dashboarding versus time played). I race with a group of people at the weekend (on all platforms: Series X, Series S, PC, Xbox 1) and at least one of us has some sort of issue with the game in the 8-9 hours we race, whether it's crashing to dashboard, freezing etc. It's difficult to know whether it is the console having an fault or the game just being problematic.

This is completely left field, has nothing to do with the issue and will likely be a waste of time but it's always good to rule out everything: Have you tried connecting to the router differently? ie if you normally connect via Wi-Fi, then try an ethernet cable and vice versa. It shouldn't make a difference given the game runs fine on the cloud but I have seen stranger things when it comes to tech

Same issue, F1 22 and Forza Horizon 5. This is not a hardware issue. Long loading times. When it eventually loads sound is screwed up and stuck on full throttle and full left turn.

Please fix this, people out there spend money to enjoy this with special wheels and seats and now it cant be used.
